I am so sorry if this has been posted before but Ive done a search and can't locate exactly what Im looking for. Im looking for a list of items to bring for our DVC vacation in August. It had salt, pepper, dish detergent and the like. Im hoping that someone could help me out.

Thanks!

They will provide dish detergent. However laundry detergent you will want to bring unless you only want to do one load.

Provided: towels, paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent (for the dishwasher and the sink). Generally, plenty of dishes, unless you are cooking Thanksgiving dinner.

Bring:

Salt and Pepper. Coffee and coffee filters (Mr. Coffee, small in a studio, larger in the units with kitchens). Any food you want (if they aren't providing salt and pepper, you'll want to bring your own frozen pizza) Laundry detergent, dryer sheets (if you want them).

Don't worry about dish detergent or dishwasher soap either, as those will be provided. There will also be paper towels and dishtowels etc. We have usually had to request an extra dishtowel, but they are more than happy to bring that for you.

We usually bring:
salt/pepper
laundry soap (you will be provided on load of Tide, but we prefer our own)
seasonings
sugar
tea and coffee plus filters(some will be provided of these as well)

We don't bring much else, because it is available in the unit, but for some things we prefer our own brands.

If there are any appliances (like a mixer etc) that you need, they will bring it to you if you call down.

Off the top of my head:

Purex laundry tablets
Tea Bags
Splenda
Oatmeal (sugar free)
Protein Bars
microwavable popcorn
syrup
ketchup
peanut butter
jam
mustard

anything not liquid and not heavy that is a non-perishable. I like to stock up when local stores have (B1G1 free) or (ketchup for $.79 - that sort of thing). It gives me the space I need for my souvies and I don't have to buy them at Publix at regular price. We still go to Publix but we purchase:

24 pack of bottled water
Soda
Ice Cream (WW and other)
Butter
Bread
Egg Whites
Sliced Ham
Sliced American Cheese
Waffles
fruit

I hope that helps.

laurajean-where are you able to find the purex tabs??? i used to buy them at the store, then none were carrying. had a friend get them at the px on base-no longer carry. bought them direct from the manufacturer on-line, but now they are no longer available. i love them for vacations plus my mother uses them at senior citizens apartment. any ideas, store names?

i would add to the listed a collapsable laundry basket (fits in the pocket of the suitcase and can double as a toy box in the room),

"goober" pb and jam in one jar (less to pack),

a couple bottle of blended spices (mrs. dash regular and italian)-so i don't have to buy or take multiple spices.

when you get there and go to a grocery store (in addition to your own list):

a can of pam for frying or baking,

a package of glad freezer, oven, microwave disposable baking dishes (great for left overs or cooking something up-they also keep you from using up all of the cereal bowls for fridge storage :goodvibes ), and

last but not least-a couple of packages of nestle ready to bake chocolate chip cookies: they make the room smell great and are wonderful for late night munchies!

Zip Lock bags - sandwich size and gallon size. They can be used for all type of things!! I always bring them no matter where we go!!

We bring 4 of the disposable type containers. I don't dispose of them, we even use them as cereal bowls because usually we're in a studio. I pack the salt, pepper, tea bags, coffee creamers in one them, so they're not just something taking up space in luggage.

We bring a wine cork. Because I didn't have one last time and we ended up with a Mickey head one. Hubby doesn't drink wine, I'll by a bottle, open it with that horrible corkscrew, and drink it over the week.

at Publix:
lots of fresh fruit for snacking
gallon of drinking water
milk
juice
diet Pepsi
bread
cheese blocks & crackers
box or 2 of cereal
tub of margarine
salad bags
couple bottles of salad dressing
boxes of sugar free jello & puddings
I like a good scouring pad
Oust spray for bathrm
a nice jar candle to enjoy while in the whirlpool tub!

pretty much all the same coffee filters, Splenda, Pam etc that everyone else does.
I do the crockpot thing & plan out meals & then put spices in sandwich bags according to what meal they are for

That's how I ended up with a Mickey head wine cork.

Mousekeeping will bring you salt and pepper, tea bags and extra sugar if you need it. We shopped before arriving at DVC and forgot to pick up salt and pepper. I checked the list in our BCV unit and it stated the above mentioned items were available upon request so I called and Mousekeeping brought up small salt and pepper shakers. Annmarie

I remember someone said they bring something to clean the whirpool tub - a think is was a dishwasher detergent tab? Anyone use anything in particular on the tub? Also - someone said a blank tape for the VCR - do some units have vcrs that record?

I haven't actually been to a DVC yet, but I was thinking when I do go, I'll buy some of the individual serving packets of condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc). Or I'll just bring my stock from work that has been building up from when we order lunch in the office.

Wow, some of you must drive to DVC, because I can't get that much stuff on board a plane. We usually do our grocery shopping after arrival.

In addition to many of the items already mentioned, I bring a dish cloth. They provide a sponge for washing dishes, but I would rather have a dish cloth. I have a DVC bag that I keep coffee filters, salt/pepper and other items that I always take with me to DVC and I just pull it out of the cabinet when it's time to go.

We've flown once for a 4 day trip...driving is much more relaxing and gives us plenty of time to talk without modern life inteferring...and it means we can bring whatever we darn well please without dealing with "security" and weight limits one must endure if you fly these days and we arrive decompressed from daily life.

When they had the hideous Stainless Steel cookware, we'd bring our own fry pan and have even brought the cast iron skillet on occasion.

For the 'room', stuff not mentioned:
Extension cord/power strip.
Disinfectant wipes (we actually cook)
Air Freshener/Febreeze(we cook garlic...lots of garlic, and some weird people don't like the smell of it. pirate: )
Garlic Press
Our portable cutlery.(never trust anyone else's knives to be sharp)
Candles (if it's just the two of us)
All of the dry goods for the trip, including condiments, hot sauce, any spices and herbs for cooking.
Christmas decorations (for our December trips)

Plastic spoons, forks and knives, plastic bowls from the dollar store. They give you the spoons, but never enough, and sometimes not reliably. Those big packs of tiny cereal, milk in boxes (easier to store-smaller mess if one leaks). We're big cereal eaters!

Frozen hot pockets for breakfast or snacks.

Tea bags, sugar in packets (neater) wet wipes. Big plastic garbage bags for the dirty clothes (I refuse to do laundry on vacation!)

We usually stay in a studio so we don't cook, per se.
