I'm going for WDW on the 9th for the first time. I've been to DL in Anaheim about 25 times and know every ride and attraction. WDW will be like going to another country for the first time.

Is there a list of "must do" rides & attractions some place? I would hate to come home and find out there was a great ride we missed.

Thank you in advance,
Al

Magic Kingdom:
~The Hall of Presidents
If you like 'Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln' imagine it with 42x the chief-executives!
~Jungle Cruise (it's about 3 minutes longer than the one in CA, and it includes show scenes not found at the original).
~Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.
~Haunted Mansion (less different, but it's worth taking a look to compare).
~Mickey's PhilharMagic (currently the only 3-D presentation unique to WDW).
~The Country Bear Jamboree (The original show -hasn't been seen in California since 1986)
All the other attractions are fairly similar to their California Cousins (as far as location and story) you'll definitely want to check them out and note the differences yourself.
Epcot:
~Test Track
~Mission:Space (if you're prone to motion sickness you may want to save this one for last... or maybe even skip it. Otherwise, it's completely AMAZING!)
~Universe of Energy (you will recognize some of the Dinosaurs from the Primeval World diorama, but the rest of this 45 minute traveling theater experience is unique to WDW.)
~Living with the Land
Some find this boat ride tour of a working agricultural laboratory a bit boring, but it has a certain charm, and can be quite interesting for the horticulturally-minded. (If you enjoy the ride, you may want to get a closer look at the greenhouses by taking the "Behind the Seeds" tour, which is 1 hour long and costs a small fee.
~Journey into Imagination with Figment
While nowhere near as extravagant as the original Imagination attraction, this cute journey through the Imagination Institute's Sensory Labs is worth checking out. The line is never very long, and at the exit, don't miss Image Works.)
~The American Adventure
The history of the United States in 25 minutes or less. Again, great for fans of Mr. Lincoln and HoP.
~Maelstrom
If the line's too long, grab a FastPass for this mini-flume adventure aboard a viking boat.
Disney/MGM Studios:
~Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Great live stunt show -it's no thrill ride, but it is thrilling.
~Tower of Terror 4
Hooray Hooray Hooray. Ride it, Live it, Love it!
~Rock n' Rollercoaster
Rock with Aerosmith.
~The Great Movie Ride
Large-scale Dark Ride+ Spieling tour guide + Great movies + a few surprises= A Spectacular Journey Into the Movies!
(ask if Erin is working, ride her vehicle)
~Walt Disney: One Man's Dream
Everything that "The Walt Disney Story" was and much much more!
Disney's Animal Kingdom:
~Festival of the Lion King
The BEST show on WDW Property!
~Kilamonjaro Safaris
Get there early, or right after a rainstorm. *The animal habitats you'll explore in your safari vehicle take up more acres than Disneyland or WDW's Magic Kingdom!
~Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharaja Jungle Trek
These wonderful nature walks each have their own free-flight aviaries. See exotic animals and birds up-close!
~Flights of Wonder
See birds from all over the world exhibit their natural behaviors.
~Dinosaur
It's Fast! It's a Blast! It's in the Past!.... and it's dark.... yeah, that pretty much sums it up.

There are lots of other things to see and do. Everyone has their own list, and you'll certainly make your own.
Don't forget to check out DisneyQuest, one of the water parks, and some of the resorts if you've got the time.
Don't try to do it all, though... Remember you're on vacation!

That's a great list put together by Safari Steve.

My list is from a spreadsheet I made:

MAGIC KINGDOM
ALIEN ENCOUNTER
BTMRR
COP
HAUNTED MANSION
JUNGLE CRUISE
PHILHARMAGIC
POTC
SPACE MTN
SPLASH MTN
TTA
WDW RAILROAD

EPCOT
AMERICAN ADVENTURE
BODY WARS
CRANIUM COMMAND
HISTA
INNOVENTIONS
LIVING WITH THE LAND
MISSION: SPACE
SPACESHIP EARTH
TEST TRACK
UNIVERSE OF ENERGY

DISNEY-MGM STUDIOS
BACKLOT TOUR
FANTASMIC!
GREAT MOVIE RIDE
INDIANA JONES SHOW
MILLIONAIRE
MUPPETVISION 3D
ONE MAN'S DREAM
RNRC
SOUNDS DANGEROUS
STAR TOURS
TOWER OF TERROR

ANIMAL KINGDOM
DINOSAUR
FESTIVAL OF THE LION KING
IT'S TOUGH TO BE A BUG!
KILIMANJARO SAFARIS
MAHARAJA JUNGLE TREK
PANGANI FOREST TRAIL

I left out Kali Rapids because it's too short and too wet. If you're with younger people, you may want to include the rides in FantasyLand.

Other "must do's" are the water parks, DisneyQuest, BoardWalk, Pleasure Island, Ice Station Cool and O Canada. And you just have to get one of those "invisible pooches." pirate: ::yes::

Don't miss the fireworks or some of the live entertainment, and don't forget to just miss some things on purpose so you'll have a more relaxing vacation. PLUS you can then see them for the first time on your NEXT trip! ;)

p.s. I know, I know, Alien Encounter is closing. Lots of changes...

I am new here and am interested in this topic too. Are there not any picture links to rides or Disney attractions/resorts? I am a 'seeing is believing ' kind of guy and would like some pics. I've been to other websites and have seen some but who has more links?

Have you checked out Disney.com. The last time that I was there, they were offering small video of some of the rides and attractions. Just go to Disney.com, click on vacations and then Walt Disney World.

Also another palce to check out. Is Digital Disney.com. He has taken the time to video some of the rides and shows. You are able to download the video of the whole attraction. Some times the video is not that great, but you do get the idea of the ride or show. Also some of the downloads do take some time, depending on your connection.

Also if you are going to WDW and you are DL regular, you should check you Fantasmic!, The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carb, The Country Bear Jambory, Splash Mountain, and some of the Fantsyland rides. Just see how they are different from your home park. I hope that you will be lucky enough to see Carosel of Progress, it is a Walt orginal, that use to call Disneyland its home.

Enjoy your trip!

"Don't try to do them all???"

I'll be at WDW 6 days. First 2 days with my birthday 9 year old son, then the rest of my family joins for 4 more days.

You better believe I'll do them all!

Thank you so much for taking the time to make a list for me, it's printing as I type this.

Do yourself a favor, and invest in a Passporter guide! It is truely wonderful, it lists all the rides/restaurants/parks, etc. and has check boxes so you can plan what you want to do most. Just a suggestion! I've NEVER been to Disney World, and will be taking my two DSs for the first time in May....I don't want to miss a thing!
