My 5yo daughter has Celiac and everything I read says it's easy to get GF food, but other than waffles I don't see a lot of specifics. We will be dining at Askerhaus, Nine Dragons, Liberty Tree Tavern and Raglan Road as well as counter service for lunches. I would like to be able to decide in advance if there are things she will eat at those places because she won't eat things like salmon or sushi.

I also keep reading they will make her special meals but it will take a lot longer, again if I can prep on what to order i would like to do it with the waiter as soon as we sit down so the elderly in our family don't have a fit about dinner taking too long.

Email special diets for a list of what the GF alternatives are at the restaurants.

Liberty Tree & Raglan are great with GF - at Raglan, she will even be able to have safe Fish & Chips if she wants! :thumbsup2

I don't know about Akershus, but Nine Dragons has the reputation of being very limited. The restaurants in World Showcase aren't owned/operated by Disney. They have to hold to certain standards, but they aren't always as accommodating. Some are, some aren't. Like Italy is great , France, forget it.

Is there a user cheat sheet anywhere on this forum? I am on a a few blogs but they don't really give a good run down. I have emailed special diets as well.

There are sheets somewhere. .. but not sure. I'm wheat allergic and love going to Disney. Make sure all your reservations list the allergy. For quick service you should be able to find things in most places. There are chicken nuggets, pizza, buns and other items that are gf. Each counter service has a book with ingredients if you want to see. Allow extra time though. If they have to thaw or cook separately it does take longer. I want to say on a trip several years ago I was encouraged to go to counter service I planned to order from later early in day and make needs known but have gone since then and just ordered gluten free while in line took longer to cook but no problem ordering. As dietary restrictions go it is the easiest to accommodate.

If you email special diets, they will send you the most recent updated form.

Gluten Free at Raglan Road is a snap. My food didn't take any longer than anyone else's. Small hint: The gf batter has parsley in it. That way you know that you got the right stuff.

Liberty Tree's stuffing has a lot of sage in it. But their meal didn't take any extra time.

If you have a chance to eat at the 50's cafe, you can preorder fried chicken. THAT does take a while but if you let them know ahead of time, it won't.

This link isn't from Dis, but it has great information.

I tried to get information from Special Diets and they simply told me to mention it at the park when I ordered. They said that suppliers change and ingredients are different.

I hope you realize that the "gluten free" list they send you is ONLY the specialty items. Any foods on the normal menu won't be listed so it is also to your advantage to look over the regular menus to see what's there. As a general rule if you are looking at table service locations, they are dealing with raw ingredients so they can mix/match/leave things out. If you are at CS they often have things that are pre-made, so if the meat is all breaded, it is ALL breaded.

It's true what the PP said about world showcase locations, but as it happens we have had good luck with 9 dragons for our son who has wheat, soy, egg, dairy, sesame, buckwheat, peanut, treenut and shellfish allergies. He goes there for beef with broccoli and steamed rice.

I think the 4 places you list you will be fine. Disney offers so many alternative items that you really won't have to think about it much. They will basically have a celiac's alternative for every item they serve everywhere you go, possibly with a couple exceptions. When I would worry would be if she developed more restrictive or contradicting food needs such celiac with egg or tapioca allergies or a long list of restrictions.

I've been twice on a GF diet and had great experiences. Didn't have to wait long at all and they were always extremely helpful. Ask for the chef first thing and they will bring out a special plate of food. They basically just asked what I wanted and they made it. Make sure to get the brownies!!!
