We didn't love Hudson's when DH and I went to HHI last summer. My in-laws said they loved it but they went for lunch and I think the menu was a little different. I LOVE seafood and I wasn't terribly impressed. Another restaurant you might want to check out is Frankie Bones. It is located almost across from the Wal-Mart, if I am not mistaken. In any case, you need to take a left out of Shelter Cove to get there. Be careful driving around looking for some of these places...they are tucked away behind trees.
We are going again this summer....we can't wait!
Have fun!:earsboy:

We ate at Sea Shack. I got very, very sick as we were getting our food (not related to Sea Shack--ended up knocking me flat for the last three days of our trip pretty much), and I still have a very favorable opinion of Sea Shack. It is not really easy to find, is not fancy in any way (we ate outside at a picnic table), but the food options and prices are awesome. You will get different opinions, and ours will be in the minority I am sure, but we thought that Giuseppe's was really, really bad and are unlikely to eat there again (at least pizza). It bordered on inedible it was so bad.
We ate at Crazy Crab in Harbourtown and it was one of the very best meals we had. The one nearer the bridge to the island is supposed to be even better.

Thanks Shan for posting your list... I was going to ask if you wouldn't mind posting it. Now... watching the opinions come in. :surfweb:

Thanks for posting your list. We are heading down for our first trip to HHI in a couple of weeks.:)

We went to Salty Dog last year and it was just a RIOT. It was SO expensive and my DH got this awful shrimp and cheese sandwich.:scared1: We were laughing so hard at how much the meal cost and the meals were just not that great. That said we went a few years before and remember enjoying it, which is why we decided to go back. I am pretty positive that its off our list for this trip.;)

Went to Scott's Fish Market the night our kids went to Kids Night Out and it was a lot of fun. The food was good and we sat outside. :)

Another place that we went to that everyone liked was Wild Wing Cafe and we will be heading back there again.

We really enjoyed Shannon Tanner's shows. :) I sent him an email to see if he was going to be there when we will, but never heard back. From what others have said, there is another singer that performs in Harbortown and we are hoping to see if he is there while we are there. Last year we were not able to get into Harbortown because of a golf tournament. :guilty:

We tried to do the dolphin tour, but the day we were supposed to go it was so cold and a bit windy so Scott called it off. We did it on our first trip and had a really good time. We are not sure if we will try it again this trip. We get there are so excited with the resort activities as well as the pool, that we never end up going.

Hope you have a great time! When are you going? We check in 4/1:yay: :yay:

We liked Giuseppi's for pizza. They have outside tables as well as inside seating.

Is Sea Shack for both lunch and dinner?

And does anyone know if the resort has Mickey bars? :mickeybar

Any places to get soft serve? (My DD can't have scooped ice cream.)

Thanks and thanks!

I am another who is not fond of Sea Shack. I had heard so much about how good it was from other timeshare sites. Maybe it was a bad night, but it is definitely not what I am used to. After the seafood in Charleston, Edisto Beach, and my mom's cooking, I guess I am spoiled. I did have another couple with me from this area, and they were not pleased either.

For seafood, we have been pleased with Prescotts. The stuffed salmon was great. My parents went for lunch with some friends and said the fried shrimp was good, too. We plan to try it in June.

We go to Old Oyster Factory every visit and always have a great meal. We also like Guiseppis for pizza and calzones..Tried Hudson last visit in June and it was a long wait and food was just OK. We are real seafood lovers from New England and our relatives from GA were there and thought the same thing. We have eaten at Scott's and really loved it but it was 3 years ago. We actually love going to Hilton Head Diner for breakfast(its open 24hrs)..its your basic greek diner with huge portions. We tried Frankie Bones in June and loved it! It has the theme of the rat pack-Sinatra, Sammy Davis etc-really nice decor and food was amazing-I still remember my LOBSTER Mac & Cheese! It alittle of the beaten path (Wexford area I think)but well worth it even just for desserts which were also amazing.
Connears

San Miguels was wonderful and just across the cove. We will be back at HHI on 3/23 wooo hoooo!!!

Scott's-- great for a nice casual setting outdoor meal. perfect if you dont feel like getting in the car as you can walk over

Old Oyster -- worth checking out

We also tried Hudson's and were not really all that impressed. We had a poor table location, average to below service, and our food just wasn't that good. I assumed we hit it on a bad night, as most reviews I had read were good, but I think there are too many great places to eat on the island to bother going back there.

I must say you have a very positive way of dealing with negative results. :yay:

The meal was just a disaster from start to finish. It was nice and sunny out and as soon a we sat down to eat at a table outside the wind kicked up and it was freezing. Napkins and stuff blowing all over. Our drinks were wrong and then one of the frozen drinks blew over. Then when our food came out, it was honestly not that good, and then there was the whole thing with my DH shrimp and cheese sandwich.....It was basically pick & peal shrimp with melted american cheese poured over it on a steak roll. And then when our bill came it was honestly the most expensive meal of our trip! It was just more of a comedy of errors and we are still laughing about it to this day. I know, we are just nuts. :rotfl:

My daughter (8 yo at the time) and I had a great BBQ meal at the Smokhouse in 11/05. It's on Pope Ave. Yes, they have a bar, but I would still consider it family-friendly. The staff was very nice.
