Liz,
Not a problem! Thanks for the support, too! Good luck! :)

Welcome to the world of journaling. I find it helpful to be accountable for what I eat. It is also refreshing to have all the support from everyone.

Good luck with your journey to becoming a healthier you.

Hi Lisa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to WISH! I know you can do this. Read other people's journals, drink your water and stay with it. Positive attitudes are a great thing.

A quick cheer to start you off!

:cheer2: Go Lisa!
:cheer2: Make the pounds go down!

Good luck!

Day 1: 06/30/05

Changes: Updated my stats to reflect today's weigh in!

Thoughts: I'm really excited about this challenge for myself actually. I made two tickers both for my mini goal and my final goal. Honestly, I was SHOCKED to see that my mini goal is only 3.6 lbs. away! Woo hoo!

Goal for today:
Workout: :flower:
Stay OP all day: :flower:

Exercise: 45 min. walk (with my mom! :))

Food Plan:
Breakfast: Egg (1), Mushrooms (1/2 c.), Mozzarella (1 Tbsp.), Canadian Bacon (1 oz.), a dash of salt and pepper
Snack: Celery Stick (1/2 large), Peanut Butter (1 tsp.)
Lunch: Spinach (2 c.), Celery Stick (1/2 large), Mushrooms (1/4 cup), Turkey (1.5 oz.), Chickpeas (1.5 oz.), Extra Virgin Olive Oil (1 Tbsp.), Salad Seasoning (1 tsp.)
Snack: Light String Cheese Stick (1)
Dinner: Ham (2 slices), Asparagus (1 c.)
Dessert: Sugar Free Cherry Jell-O (1 Container)

Lessons Learned:
::yes:: I really don't love celery. It's ok in a salad, but I like it better with peanut butter.
::yes:: I love natural peanut butter. Yes, it costs more because it's organic, but, boy, does it take so much better! (If you don't know, natural peanut butter is just organic peanuts mashed up - no oil, no additives, nothing!)
::yes:: I love chickpeas! In fact, I love them so much that I could easily see myself binging on them, which is why I limit how much I eat of them. I'm not sure why, but I really enjoy their taste!
::yes:: Oh, I don't eat salad seasoning very much, but I added a tad because, frankly, I was afraid that my salad would not taste good (I thought it was too boring). However, I was shocked when I first tasted the salad seasoning! It tasted so salty! My mom and I talked about trying to make our own with spices, but no extra salt.
::yes:: I'm much stronger (i.e. will power) than I realized.

Hi Lisa and welcome to WISH! I've found that writing everything I eat in my journal has helped me stop over-snacking so much - I don't want to embarrass myself by posting to the world all the naughty things I consumed...

Congrats on being able to eat 1 tsp of pb and stop! I had to stop eating it because I'd eat about 2 heaping spoonfuls at a time! :sad2: But with the support of all the awesome people here, I have vowed not to do that anymore!

You will be at your mini goal in no time! Keep up the great work and the positive attitude and you can do nothing but succeed!

Tracy,
Thanks for your kind words! I love encouragement! It really helps all of us!
So funny...I teach fifth grade! I did my student teaching in fifth grade and was lucky enough to be hired right into a fifth grade job! I love the kids in this grade level!
Keep working hard yourself! You can do it! :)

Day 2: 07/01/05

Changes: Only my pattern of thinking...I will do this!

Thoughts: Wow! Yesterday was an awesome day! I did not cheat at all! That is a huge deal for me! It was a great day to restart and start the process of becoming a new me! I know that scale is going down! Woo hoo! :)

Goal for today:
Workout: :flower:
Stay OP all day: :sad2:

Exercise: 60 min. aquasize class (with my mom! :))

Food Plan:
Breakfast: Egg (1), Mushrooms (1/2 c.), Canadian Bacon (0.75 oz.)
Snack: Light String Cheese Stick (1)
Lunch: Asparagus (1/2 c.), Turkey (2 oz.), Chickpeas/Kidney Beans, (1 oz.)
Snack: Walnuts (3/4 c.)
Dinner: Spinach (2 c.), Mushrooms (1/2 c.), Shrimp (10 medium), Extra Virgin Olive Oil (1/2 tsp.), Salad Seasonings (1/8 tsp.)
Dessert: Sugar Free Cherry Jell-O (1 Container)
Snack: Pretzel Rods (6), Coke (1 can), Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake (1 small slice)

Lessons Learned:
::yes:: I love to swim! I did it all the time as a kid and was even on a swim team. I really enjoy it in general and as a form of exercise!
::yes:: I realized that ham tastes so salty to me because I don't have it very often. I was thinking last night that I only buy the low-sodium turkey breast/lunch meat, too. Therefore, it's no wonder that the "regular" stuff tastes so salty to me!
::yes:: Honesty is so important. Not that I would lie on here, but somehow here I am more honest than with my own food journal. There is a professor that I know and she always talked about "going public" with projects, etc. from our kids. I think the same goes for here. I know that I will not be as honest in my own journal because who is going to see it?! This forum really helps me be truthful.
::yes:: I think I should stay away from nuts. Of course, I started out only eating 15, but that soon turned into more. I should have taken a lesson from myself from the other day when I didn't bother to look for peanuts. Until I have more self control, I need to stay away. With that being said...they do taste good! ;)
::yes:: I need to allow for a second snack later at night. If I eat dinner around 5 or 6 and then "close my kitchen" at 7, my sugar level drops/hunger increases until I can't handle it. That's why tonight at 11pm I dove in and had a snack! That chocolate peanut butter cake was so freakin' good, though! Oh, I'm in heaven!

Hi Lisa! Awesome job on a cheat-free day! I just wanted to let you know that I think you are such an inspiration! You have such a positive and upbeat attitude and it really carries over and makes me think I can do it too. So THANKS for being such a motivating factor for all of us at WISH!

My DS9 is going into 4th grade. He is in the gifted program and he is extremely high maintenance. :hyper: My DD6 is the exact opposite - the sweetest little thing you've ever seen. princess: Hats off to you, I obviously don't have what it takes to be a teacher or daycare provider - being around lots of kids at one time really stresses me out!

Keep up the good work, you are already on your way to your exercise goal for July, yippee!

AmyT,
Thanks for the kudos on the cheat free day. I will make this another one! ;)
You made me cry when you talk about the positive attitude! I really do try here, at home, at work, etc. to be positive. This year was rough...I had some parents that gave me a hard time. It was really funny when I went back to school a week ago and even the custodian said I looked more relaxed! It confirmed how stressed I was, too. :( What's done is done and I decided this summer is all about me! (Yes, that is selfish, but who is going to argue with me?! ;))
Your kids sound like a lot of families I know. All have different needs and personalities so I hear ya on that! :)
Keep working hard!

Lisa

Hi Lisa! :wave2:

My 2nd year of teaching 5th grade was tough! :( I had a lot of students with different emotional/ self-esteem issues. I could NOT wait for summer!;) The following school year, I was blessed with the most amazing class! The funny thing is that most of the students who had given me a hard time while they were in my class, kept telling me how much they missed 5th grade and how they wanted to be back in my classroom! :confused3 I hope that you get an amazing class this year and some wonderful, encouraging parents as well! ::yes::

Enjoy your summer off to relax, regroup, and WISH, WISH, WISH! ;) :teeth: You are off to a great start and your positive attitude and determination will definitely help you to meet your goals! :Pinkbounc

Have a great 4th of July weekend! :sunny:

Tracy,
Thanks for the kind words! I love the summer! It's busy since I'm working on my Masters, but I'm getting it done! :)
Today was a bit rough, as I caved and had some off limits foods. I started South Beach Phase 1, but I think it's too restrictive for me. I didn't feel good today, at all.
Keep up the hard work! :)

Lisa

Jen,
Thanks so much for those kind words! It's amazing what positive thinking can do for you, isn't it?
Oh, I remember the days of VBS as a kid! My sister and I always had a great time and our church always planned exciting activities. Good for you for teaching those kids! Those young ones sure can be a handful! ;)
Keep working hard! :)

Lisa
