LisaS and AKV owners, Please help: questions re:AKV

Hi! I used the search function but could not find the answer. I noticed LisaS has such a wealth of info. regarding AKV, so I want to ask her and all of you AKV owners my (silly) questions, hope you don't mind

What type of accomadations are available at AKV Jambo compared to Kidani?

What is the difference between value accomodations and standard view rooms?

If one is lodged at the Jambo House, can they use the water/pool facilities at Kidani? And vice -versa?

Lastly, is there a deadline as to when to bank your points for next year? Say my use year is March, do I have to bank my points by a certain date so I can use them next year? When is the last day I can bank them?

I am in the process of ROFR, I am all nerves!

I'm sure others will come along to help answer your questions. The four types of rooms found at Jambo, the existing AKL were created out of hotel rooms. All rooms are on the 5th floor with the exception of 5 2 br lock-offs which can be reserved also as a 1 br and studio on the 6th floor. These 5 rooms are the only concierge rooms at AKL. The value rooms were created from the Giraffe and Ostrich trails and are 3 feet shorter than the standard and savanna view rooms. If you reserve standard view at Jambo you will have a pool view. At Kidani standard view could net you parking lot, pool, or garden view. Savanna view at either building is a view of a savanna.

Kidani will have standard views and savanna views only.

Not yet sure about use of pool and water features.

You can bank points anytime in the first 8 months of your use year. I have April and must bank by the end of November.

VIEWS

There are two defined views at AKV: Savanna and Standard. Savanna is a view of one of the savannas. Standard is a view of the “pool, garden or parking lot”. While Savanna View or Standard View is confirmed at the time of reservation, note that Standard View room view preference requests are noted but not guaranteed.


BOOKING CATEGORIES

There are four booking categories at AKV: Value, Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge.

(V) Value: (Jambo House only). Smaller rooms with either a Savanna view or a Standard View (which means pool or parking lot). So a Value villa can have a view of the Sunset Savanna, the pool or the parking lot. A Value 1-BR only sleeps 4, versus 5 in all the other 1-BRs.

(S) Standard View: Larger than Value, with a Standard view (pool, garden or parking lot). At Jambo House only, all of the rooms in this booking category have a pool view. All of the Jambo House rooms facing the parking lot are smaller so they are classified as Value rooms. At Kidani Village, the Standard View villas will have a view of the pool, a garden area or a parking lot.

(SV) Savanna View: Larger than Value, with a view of a savanna (approximately 80% of all rooms have a Savanna View; All Grand Villas have a Savanna View)

(C) Killimanjaro Club Concierge: (Jambo House only). Larger than Value, with Concierge services and either a Savanna or Standard View (but no parking lot or garden views, just pool view). Only 5 Concierge units exist; they are all 2-BR lockoffs, for a maximum of 10 rooms if broken up into 1-BR and Studios. Unlike all other DVC accommodations, these rooms get daily housekeeping service and evening turndown with chocolates.

Yes.

You will know at booking if your reservation is at Jambo or Kidani. Since there are separate check in locations, you have to know. AKV will be like two separate resorts (Jambo & Kidani) as far as the reservations go.

Since standard view at AKV is also a booking category, you can reserve it.

So if you want a standard view unit in Jambo House, you will know at reservation time whether or not you got it.

Points from a March use year must be banked by October 31st acccording to the DVC chart.
