lots going on and now that we are at this just about to be >7 months point, i'm starting to feel the pressure again!! working on our move - we are actually getting brand new flooring throughout his home today (except the bathrooms which i forsome reason think we can tile ourselves - too much HGTV??)! Then the "FH" comes out sunday to help me get together for the move. we pack up, i've got 2 more weeks of work, movers come the 8th, we head out - WITH MY LITTLE DOGGIE- to WDW for a quick weekend alone (yay!!) and our planning session. THEN we DRIVE to texas. Then all my crud arrives and we work some more!!
YOU CAN DO EEEEETT!!
PLANNING SESSION - Karen and her asst, Jessie, seem awesome! the communication has been great, planning session is confirmed. got an email about picking things to taste. we are essentially doing the tinkerbell buffet, i think we will add mickey waffles, as the carb/sugar load isn't quite high enough for our liking. but i hadn't really thought about tasting anything because, like, why do we need to taste a waffle or an omelet?? karen said think about it and we will taste the chicken dish - which sounds great but for the roasted fennel that i hate so i can taste it and see how fennel-y it is - and the artichoke pasta dish of which i am 100% positive is most likely not super artichoke-y unless you think bubbly hot artichoke dip from chilis or wherever is super artichoke-y. i think it will be good, just not....not "fresh" maybe? i mean i think it will be pasta with a super pale greenish sauce that is just like a heavy alfredo. which is fine by me, but we will taste and make sure we don't think its tooooo nouvelle cuisine for some of our guests!
upon reviewing the menu, we know we are putting the pastry items to the "pre-reception", so i am almost feeling we need something more - a fruit dish (although i don't really want fruit salad), maybe a green salad of some sort? also i sondered if we needed one "wow" item at the pre-reception, but couldn't think offhand of what kind of item would be good served from trays and "go" with the brunch AND be uber budget friendly.... suggestions????
but we have stuff to taste! i'm bringing along a bunch of stuff for my inspiration - should i print EVERYTHING out? i'm kind of thinking i will just bring my laptop? i already sent a "power point" type file with wedding inspiration to my planner, so i thought i could bring the computer, then i can email any files they want.
also mentioned wanting some ideas for the decor ala the lanterns or balloons and things i've talked about before. of course in my email i said i needed something budget friendly and under 1K! well, i really mean UNDER $500!! so who knows! and i don't know if its even worth finding someone else for that one element...
i'm stymied by flowers - positive any flowers of the types i like will be lovely, not sure what to do or specify for my MOH and the family members getting flowers. i LOVE flowers. its good the amount of flowers i would want is so far out of our budget its not even possible! but i love flowers! i want flowers but at the same time need to keep it to a minimum becasue we are also going on the cruise the next day, my MOH is probably leaving THAT evening - just hate to see beaustful flowers just tossed!! all the pics i have are flowers, pom poms of flowers etc.... i'm wanting a "looser" bouquet in general (you got that right? LOOSE-er not LOSER??! heh), but think maybe i should shoot an email over today to also ask floral to make any suggestion about the above... i think using lots of branches as well will keep with the theme and be less sad and wasteful!
DRESS- FH's step-mom does alterations and is a tailor/seamstress by profession. i am hoping she will have advice or suggestions for me. still wanting to shorten the dress - i guess i shouldn't buy a crinoline until i shorten it or buy it now? - and i googled something up that seems to think that it is possible to put a corset back onto a zipper back dress.
WHA?? MAKE MY DRESS UTTERLY PERFECT??? this must happen!!!
on a weird side note, the soldering (is that how you spell that??) on my e ring that i had resized came off!
like i can see where they cut it and everything. they made it smaller so the ends are together but ***??!! the rest of the repairs they did appear intact, i will go back to the shop tomorrow but its just so odd!
i'm still working on the invites, have gone back to the original fonts and changed the wording again. as soon as trace gets here, i want to start printing so we can get them out as soon as we arrive in texas, before home improvements swamp us!! PLUS i already put our RSVP date as 11/15 or something..
also - i'm stressing on the room block getting filled, trace paid rev. miller in full, i have a hair/make up trial with BSpecial at WDW - i don't know what i'm doing! - and we have epics with the arndts - and we are going to get my little crazy love bug maggie out of MK jail for some of the pics!! very excited! more so to see how we look in the pics with make up etc... i HOPE we like them - less about the photography more about being self critical...
OMG I HAVE A MILLION ZILLION THINGS TO DO!!!!
