Lisa & Trace-1/25/2011-WP/GF - we got our wedding pics!

did i mention that my super cute, super sweet "FH" came up with the idea to use 2 blank vinylmation figures as our guest register - a bride and a groom - and people can sign them!

he's so cute!

on another note, my dress apparently is in. i know its not going to zip up so i am excited and not excited. and i am hungry. :guilty:

OK - SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT IN MY OVERZEALOUS ATTEMPT TO USE UP THE PAINT I SQUIRTED OUT LAST NIGHT, THE LITTLE DOT BELOW THE BIRDS DOES NOT LOOK LIKE POOP!!!!!

GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1::eek::scared1::eek:

thanks for checking me out ladies!!

i was really stressing out today. let me remind - i am 43. never been married before. my face has decided it is 15 and will apparently break out for the next year. found a cool dress within my budget and bought it, didn't go to a ton of places to try stuff on, though i did a lot of online looking. when i went dress shopping, they didn't have anything in my size to even get an idea. either too big or too small.

after a snafu or two, i got the word the dress was in. mind you, i know just about everyone says they are going to lose weight or get in better shape before the wedding, but I AM! long story short, this dress first came in in the wrong size. then it was supposed to be in at the end of the month. but it came yesterday. so today i went in, feeling literally ill because i went right after work, i have freakish hat hair (i work in an OR), i am broken out, i feel ginormous and now i felt like this dang dress isnt going to zip - and i KNOW it wont right now - and instead of just going, OK, thats what i expected, i was already freaking.

also, did i mention that lately i am feeling my age and having mortal fears of appearing like an old lady who thinks she's 18 and hot. like i will look like a joke in a poufy dress.

in any event - THE DAMN THING ZIPPED! i mean, to my mind, still a lot i want to do between now and then to get back into the shape i was before i had neck surgery a year and a half ago, and i am going to do a little length tweak to the gown i think (when i find a seamstress!) but -

so even though i still have the same freaky hair right now and the same amount of zits, WHAT A RELIEF!!

oh yeah, i forgot - what cracks me up is the protective cardboard around the flower applique thing at the waist? its like one of those dog cones!!

POOFTASTIC!!

You look adorable in your dress!:cutie: I love it on you. It's so pretty and you don't look 43. I would have guessed much younger. I like the isle runner too.

I hear you on the 'people thinking you are trying to look younger' thing!! I think, however, your dress is just gorgeous and you look fantastic in it!!!
I am 46 and I am having my VR in May 2011. I went dress shopping last week-end and was having the exact same thoughts as you - additionally my celebration is a VR and not a wedding!!! I figured, however that:-

a) I am paying for my dress and will have what I think looks good on me!!
b) I didn't have the dress I really wanted when I got married 10 years ago as money was tight and I ended up hiring one which I didn't like that much, and I can afford the dress I want now, so I should have it, right?
c) This will probably be my final chance to be a princess as I am getting older!!!

That said, I tried on many styles which I think were 'too young' for me and I was beginning to despair a little, but then I found this. I have ordered it from a boutique here in England, but they would not allow us to take pictures of me in it and the pictures on the Maggie site would not save, so I found one on another internet site, but have not ordered from them. Sorry to hijack your thread, but I wanted you to know I understand your pain, but you have nothing to worry about!!! You look fabulous in your dress!!

The planning looks like it is going great so far! It is fantastic that you will get to be on the maiden voyage of the disney dream for your wedding - that does not happen very often! It will be so special for you! I love your Alice theme, and the invites/reply cards look great! I love how you incorporated the phrasing from the movie in your reply cards, it is so original (I have been trying to get some original into my wedding but not with much luck as of yet lol) And you should really not worry about your dress, you are getting married at Disney, it is the most magical place ever! I always feel like I am five years old when I go there (because I get so excited) but I am okay with it because I am at Disney. Good luck with the rest of your plans, we all look forward to reading them!

thanks tink, april and disney for your comments!! i am sure at whatever age, size or anything we can all identify with alternatively feeling great and then feeling hideous!!! i enjoy all these PJs alot because it is real people (even lots of stunningly beautiful, modelesque people!, but real!!

i realized too late that if the davids bridal still had the dress they missordered first in a 14, all unused and on property, i should have gotten it, as it would have diminished my alteration costs. or made them much higher. heh.

i'm enjoying the card making process thus far, thanks for the feedback. thank goodness i only have to make about 30 total or i would be jumping off a bridge.

Loving your plans. I feel your pain about the age issue. I'm 34 this year and am having a hard time getting friends to understand that Disney it not just "a kid thing". My boss actually called me a spinster the other day as I won't be married until I'm 35 - how rude!

Can't wait to see more of your ideas and love the cake topper. I'm really struggling to pick one that suits us at the moment.

so yes, i got my dress and it took exactly 5 days before i unzipped it and tried to put on all my gear...heh

so here's the fashion show: note - i could not zip it up myself!!

heres me in the blue shrug i bought off amazon (its just a ballet baby blue shrug) - i really like it - it was under $20! woot! and i keep holding up the dress because i am just so convinced i need to shorten it - its pretty fuzzy but i like the overall look

heres me with my "in progress" DIY fascinator/blusher/bird explosion on my head...
IMG_0263.jpg

so heres a closer shot of the birds nest on my head. now i like the kooky-ness, but clearly i see that the best way it does seem to want to be will require pointing my birdies in another direction!
IMG_0256.jpg

heres my shoes - i actually have had these - had worn them once (to victoria and alberts, solo, for my 40th birthday!!) i do love them and i think i may use them for the wedding!

and this past weekend i bought "bridal bubbles" (bubbles pour marriage oh lala!!)
IMG_0270.jpg

and i tried to make a door hanger for the welcome bags, after seeing many inspirational posts here! it needs some tweaking but i like the idea -

i'm off to Texas tomorrow to see my "FH" and weare taking a quick side trip to DISNEYLAND!!! woot! hopefully, we can pick up our bride/groom ears there, a mad hatter hat for his son, and get some good pictures of us in fantasyland! oh, and we get to do lunch at club 33!!!

SO EXCITED!!

i've just returned from a week with the fiance, or FH as he likes to be called :rotfl2:. still looking for a job in DFW - nothing yet which is super deppressing. on a brighter note, we went to DL!! woot!! ate lunch at club 33!!!! woot again! and bought our bride and groom ears - nice!

as to planning, we are zeroing in on "LOA" day - have filled out cursory info to get a DFTW website, though we have a site on the knot AND i ALREADY sent out STDs of my own making.... ooopsie!

also, we got the room block info and planning sheet, which diane helped me with and i emailed back. so i hope whatever i wrote down made sense! we are choosing Contemporary, POR and ASMovies. I know one couple coming from hawaii already has plane reervations and is interested in 4 nights at the contemporary - so i guess we are going to attempt the whole "room block" thing.

so next we wait i guess for all the paper trail to egin and to FINALLY hand over some cash - not that i like handing over the hypothetical cash (read: charging my amex) but i want it locked in!!

once this part gets going, i can go back to working on the invites and wedding timeline stuff that really has me confused. FH and i want to go for a planning session, but work and finances will dictate all that. at first i was feeling so confidant in doing all this long distance if need be, but now, especially after seeing even MORE possibilities, i'm stressin'. mostly i want to be able to taste the cake options because we don not want fondant and i've had really yummy buttercream on property, but realize that they don't all come from the same bakery so maybe this one is different from that one etc...

also, i think i am going to book make up for the wedding and the MK bridal pics and that stresses me as it is unlikely i will do a test run. i think i typed that i tried one saturday to do some make up on myself and i ended up just about wanting to laser blast my entire face off. i looked like a crazy clown and this is from a person who wears make up and (i think) does a pretty above average job with her own make up.

the bridal attire situation is mostly settled, i just need to stick to my diet and exercise plan - which was actually going pretty well until DL, where i seemed to have mysteriously gained like 7 pounds. fabulous.

so the waiting continues.... looking forward to getting down to the nitty gritty!!

Hiya! :wave2:

Where did you get those fabulous shoes? I LOVE them! Also, I cannot show DH your cake topper or he will buy one. Although then we would need a cake to go with it... hmmmm...

Speaking of cake—they put buttercream underneath the fondant on wedding cakes to make it stick, and when they serve the pieces, the fondant's peeled off. So when they tell you it's impossible to make a Mad Hatter cake that's not covered in fondant, don't worry—no fondant will ever touch your plate! :thumbsup2
