DD & I are leaving Sunday, staying overnight in Buffalo and returning late Saturday night.

Does anyone know how much alcohol we are allowed to purchase?

Also should we purchase it on the way into the U.S. at the border Duty Free and leave it in the trunk of the car for the week or.....

Purchase it at the Buffalo airport and bring it with us on the plane ... or in Orlando on the way home at the duty free at the airport there.

We arrive back very late so we won't be able to buy it coming home at the border.

Thanks! :confused3

Don't know why you would purchase at the Buffalo airport. You won't be able to purchase duty free there. If you have a car in Orlando, the best prices will be at a liquor store, especially if your willing to shop specials, not brands. In any case, you are allowed 40 oz each if your daughter is of legal age.

Sorry I wasn't specific enough. We are flying out of Buffalo, so no car in Orlando. DD is of age and she wants to purchase cheap booze ;)

I'm just looking for advice on the cheapest, yet legal way.....

As your flights are between Buffalo and Orlando, duty free at the airports are not an option. With no car at Orlando, a liquor store there is not an option. So your choices are really between duty free at the border or a liquor store in the States before you get to the airport. Again, if you are willing to shop specials over brands, the liquor store will likely be cheaper. If brand is important, then try the duty free.

Great! Thanks!

We stop at duty free on the Cnd side and pick up a "traveller" bottle or 2 for our week at WDW. We put those in our checked luggage. On the way back we stop at the duty free at the border crossing and buy our allottment, usually beer as we have the car. DH travels into the US all the time and gets duty free but not beer as he hates carrying a 2/4 along with his luggage and laptop. :)
If you get more than one bottle you just tell the border guard and then pay the duty. It can still be cheaper that way. And if it's only one bottle they may just wave you through. :goodvibes
