Liquid Soap Refill Question

I bought a few of the foaming soap dispensers from Softsoap when they were on sale but the refills are pretty expensive. I like the fact that it foams and the kids use much less. Is it possible to make refills for these dispensers? Is it just watered down liquid soap?

The foaming soap refill is really like a liquid, regular "liquid" soap is more like a gel.

I just put some water in the container when I add the liquid soap. I don't measure it, but maybe 1/2 and 1/2 or 1/3 soap and 2/3 water. They work fine.

I have not had the softsoap one specifically but have had other foaming dispensers. I just refilled with water and liquid soap. I used more like 1/3 or even 1/4 soap and rest water. I don't think the moisturizing soaps (the ones that look a little like they have lotion mixed in) work well though.

I have the Kitchenaid dispensers that are meant to be used with regular soap. The "recipe" mine calls for is to use a water/soap ratio of 9 to 1.
I tend to use 8 to 2, because I like mine richer.

Some of the dispensers that use special soap use pressurized refills that won't work if you try to refill, but I don't know if the brand you use is one of those.

I used to sell bath and body products from a company that had a foaming soap dispenser. Used regular liquid soap or shower gel. Fill the bottle 1/4 with soap, the rest with water. HTH

Good thing I just did a search - this is the exact question I needed to ask!

I bought a Dial foaming soap on sale to try it out - barely lasted 6 days in one bathroom. Yikes! This is the bathroom frequented by two little ones, three adults, and various visitors, so it is pretty busy. But really, SIX DAYS?!?

I kept the dispenser in hopes of creating homemade liquid foaming soap. I suppose I'll just play around with the ratios until I find what works for us!

Did this for years - worked like a charm.

But, I found that it even worked better if I made up the soap/water solution and let it sit for at least a day. It somehow diluted itself better - the soap didn't clump up and sit on the bottom, but more fully dispersed through the solution. I just used a large (empty) soap dispenser jug and after I figured out the soap/water ratio I needed, I just refilled the jug occasionally - like once every month or two - and filled the dispenser out of that. (I made Sharpie marker lines on the jug marking the soap, then the water line - made it brainless to remember the ratio.)

use warm water when you mix the soap and water together, dilutes better.
