Lion king vs. Tarzan

so im doing a compare and contrast speech in school, and im comparing the lion king and tarzan.

so i need some differences and similarities.

i all ready have;
Alike-
-they were both released in june
-take place in africa
-phil collins does music
-parents are killed
-enemies
-secrets
-final battles
-leave their familys
-come back to help their families
-betrayal

Different-
-lion king- $312,850,000. Tarzan- $171,085,000.
-LK- 1994. T- 1999
-LK- all animals. T- humans and animals
-LK- leaves his family to get away from his problems. T- leaves his family to find where he belongs.
-LK- they all live in caves. T. live in the open
-LK- Savana. T- Jungle


i know theirs others but i just cant think of any

Looks like you have a good start. I would go into the deeper messages in each story. Simba learns he can't run away from his problems. He had to take responsibility and return to his rightful place as king.

Tarzan showed that deep down, people are all the same. He was raised in the jungle and Jane was a rich kid but they still connected, despite their outward differences.

Also, Phil Collins only did the music for Tarzan. Elton John and Tim Rice did the music and lyrics for Lion King. Also, in Lion King they don't all live in caves. While they do show Rafiki and Scar in caves, the Savannah is an open area where all the animals exist together. You could also mention the conflict between the lions and the hyneas. It shows how different cultures can sometimes have conflicts when trying to live together. Lion King also shows how one person (or animal) can make such a different to an entire civilization. When Mufasa was king, the kingdom was orderly and harmonious. When Scar was king, it was chaos!

Good luck on your speech! I remember having to do speeches in school and they can be challenging.

(i seem to get phil collins and elton john mixed up sometimes hah duh)

i have things about the enemies, about how in each movie theirs 2 different kinds.
they each have thier natural enemies, and then ones they didnt expect.
LK- the hyenas were their natural enemy, scar was one they didnt really expect
T- sabor was of course their natural enemy, and then clayton was the surprise one.


ive got a B in my speech class , but this speech is going to be our final, so its worth like twice as many points as usual

You may want to mention that both movies have an underlying love story - Nala and Simba and Tarzan and Jane. I just wanted to point that out! Good luck with you speech and I hope you get an A!

For you English majors out there, Lion King is also a loose adaptation of Hamlet. Not sure of the "source" for Tarzan (I know it was an old tv show), but I'm sure some light research would turn that up fairly quickly...
