We were at AK on 6-15 at 5pm performance and just about at the finale, an annoucement was made that the performance had to stop and would everyone please leave :confused3 - anyone know what happened, really disappointed we did not get to see the end. :sad2:

It could have been a number of things.

The audio track developed a "problem" (the show is entirely synced to that track) and the rest of the show would not be possible without it.

There was an injury (even minor) to a performer (either backstage or on-stage) that would require the show to stop.

I work over at Lion King. I was not there that particular show but I can tell you it was most likely just a technical difficulty. Things like that happen from time to time because of all the technical pieces that have to come together for the show to work. If something gets stuck or doesn't close or the pyro doesn't go as planned- any little thing that can't be immediately fixed- they have to down the show. There are too many performers that could get hurt if they don't.
I'm sorry you missed the ending!

I just wanted to say that this is my FAVORITE show at Disney. My dd LOVES it. The cast members are very interactive and friendly. Those people have SOME voices! Please pass on our compliments to the cast!

Me too! :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc .

The Festival of the Lion King is the only show in all of WDW we go to every visit.

I believe that was the show where a performer was injured in the show AND a fight broke out in the audience. Unfortunately that's the price of live theater.

ITA!!! Loved that show when we were there, got goosebumps and everything! :thumbsup2
I imagine it's hard to keep up the same enthusiasm for several shows a day, day after day after day after day...........you guys do a great job.

A fight in the audience is hopefully not the price of live theater. I hope Disney had whoever was fighting not only thrown out, but prosecuted.

To whomever it was that said they worked there... does my old friend Tanza still work there? She had one of the singing parts.

I would like to let you know that I have seen Lion King on Broadway as well as the Lion King show in AK. In my opinion the show in AK is 100 better than the one on Broadway. Not only is the costuming better and of course the interaction with the audience, but when you consider the space you have to work with in AK compared to a full size theatre you all do an AWESOME JOB!!! Thank you for a wonderful show!!!

Yes, I believe she does! I admit that singers come and go quite regularly and I don't always know who is around, but I'm pretty sure I saw Tanza recently.
She has a great voice :thumbsup2

Festival of the Lion King is my FAVORITE thing on Disney property, so I wanted to say THANKS to you CMs posting here who work there!

The people I work with can tell you that every few weeks when work is driving me nuts, I declare that I'm running off to Florida to be a dancer at the show ;).

This show gives me goosebumps, makes me tear up and feel happy...all at once!! I hope it never changes...it's timeless!! Great job!

My husband and I agree this is the best attraction/show in all of WDW.

We saw it twice on our recent visit and the kids wanted to go right back into the theater and see it again after our second time but we had to leave to get to LaNouba.
