Linking

I made most of my reservations over the phone for the first time thanks to the glitches online. None show up in MDE, so I assume I have to link them with the confirmation numbers. If I don't, will it let me make a reservation at a conflicting time with another reservation? We are going to split up for a bit and some of us meet friends, so if I can have two reservations at the same time for more than is in my party, I might not link them yet. And then, if it lets me do that, once I do link them, will they all be intact, or will I have issues then?
