ok, I think I get most of this MDE, FP+, Magic Band or RFID card stuff but I am lost on the ticket linking part.

so if I have a room only reservation booked and have that reservation showing in my MDE account, I can or can I not book FP+ reservations until I link a park ticket?

what if I plan on purchasing an AP voucher that I won't be activating until I get onsite?

what if I forgo the AP this year and plan to by magic your way tickets - do I have to get those in advance and link them to my MDE account in order to make FP+ reservations in advance?

what if I purchase tickets from a 3rd party dealer (like undercover tourist) can I link those to MDE to make my FP+ ressies in advance?

we have some 3 day passes from a free dining promo two years ago. we never used them so they are still valid. (have done this over and over for years. get the tickets that go with a the promo. never use them but use our APs. next time we need new APs use one batch of old unused promo tickets to upgrade to the AP.) we wanted to use those to roll up to either AP's or 8 day hoppers this year. but to do this I have to wait until I am onsite to do so.
can I register those with MDE and if so how? they are on the old keys to the kingdom cards and are not paper tickets. not sure how to collect the info from those to register them with MDE.

also, if I can register those to make reservations in advance, can I only book advance reservations for the number of days on those passes (3 for example) or for the length of my resort booking that is already registered with MDE?

lastly (for now - sorry, this stuff is nuts) if I can register those old passes and make FP+ reservations, if/when I get onsite and roll those passes up to either an AP or that 8 day park hopper, will the FP+ reservations I made with the old ticket media still be valid?

You must have park admission linked to MDE in order to make FP+ selections. That can be tickets as part of a package, will call confirmation for MYW Tickets or Annual Passes, or actual Tickets/Passes.

thanks for your reply erionm. it did help with a few of my questions but I am still unsure about a few points. if anyone could reply with some further details about the following, I would appreciate it.

You can link an AP voucher.

You can link a ticket you purchase from a third party dealer, but not until you have received the ticket.

So piggybacking - if I do will call tickets, but purchase them inside 60 days, then I cannot make the FP+ reservations at 60 days even though I hold a room reservation on-site? Makes sense, but just making sure.

Great questions, OP. Thanks.

You can not make advance FP+ selections until you have park admission linked to MDE.
