Linking reservations

We have two contracts with different use years and home resorts. We booked a trip in December where all of the days except the first one were on one contract and the first day was on the other. Member services said they linked the two so that we would not have to move (same resort, same category) and that we would be able to make dining reservations and obtain fast passes for the entire trip from the appropriate time before each. However, when we hit 180 days, I could only make dining reservations based on the first night on-line and Disney could not help when they opened their lines at 7 a.m. ET. We had to wait until 9 a.m. ET when member services opens to get them to make the rest of the reservations. They said they create a fake reservation of the entire trip to do that. I am concerned when we need to make Fastpass reservations that what we want may disappear before 9 a.m. ET. Is there a way to resolve this problem so we can do it online earlier? Thanks.

You are among many who have had this problem. The problem for dining reservations is not just the linked reservations, which I have done numerous times before. For the majority of trips I have had since DVC started allowing online reserving, I have not been able to make dining reservations online except at 180 days out from each day of my trip, i.e., the system refuses to recognize my DVC room reservation (including regular and not just linked reservations) as controlling the number of days you can make dining reservations at 180 days out from date of arrival. I have brought this problem to DVC's attention numerous times over the years, including by letter, but it has never been fixed.

With fastpasses I have had the different problem of the sytem recognizing the linked reservations as separate reservations and thus allowing fastpasses only at 60 days out from each reservation. I have also brought that problem to DVC's attention a number of times and in writing and it has not been resolved.

So the apparent answer as to whether it can be resolved has thus far been that DVC has seemingly been working on it for several years and failed in the effort.

It is inconsistent. In March, we stayed in 5 different DVC studios at 5 different resorts in 5 nights. I had no problems with FP+. I don’t know if ADRs would’ve been a problem since we booked inside the 180 day window.
