If I have a reservation for 6 nights and at the 7 month window add 1 extra day (if available) and the rooms are the same category and size, can they be linked so we don't have to move?

yes, the reservations can be linked, but i don't know if you will be able to remain in the room. good luck!

I recently added a day to an existing reservation. When I asked MS if I'd have to move she told me that she would add the extra night to my existing reservation number thereby eliminating the possibility of having to switch rooms.

I had this situation last November. In fact, it was for an AP reservation and a subsequent DVC reservation for the same room type. I had requested the two reservations be linked and to block the room I was provided a day or two before arrival. Sent it to the hotel front desk fax.

I asked at check-in and was told that the room was blocked so I wouldn't have to move. I did, however, have to check-out at the end of the AP reservation and check-in for the DVC one. New room key cards were required. It was no big deal. Perhaps this has changed since the systems upgrade though as I thought one benefit coming was a trip itinerary instead of individual reservations.

I suspect chances are pretty low that you would have to switch rooms. And let's face it, what would be the point if it's the exact same room type? They don't guarantee requests for specific room requests for incoming arrivals after all.

Yep, this is really only an issue when you are trying to link reservations from different systems (i.e. rack rooms, DVC, AP or regular discounted rooms). If both reservations are from the DVC pool of rooms (points or cash), then they just make it all one reservation.

:surfweb:

We have had reservations linked with no problem. For example, I had enough points for 6 days, but wanted two more days, so I made arrangements with another DVC member to make a reservation for me and we linked the two so that I would not have to move. You have to be sure it is the same type room and in the same name.

For my upcoming reservation I booked 4 nights with one membership number, then 1 night with my add-on contract (different membership number). MS confirmed the link and said I would not have to move rooms, and the confirmation e-mail reflected that on the second reservation, which cost me 56 points, I was booked for 5 nights. :thumbsup2 Totally doable.

we have an upcoming reservation for 2 days....6 days....3 days....just because people coming and going at different times. we were told we wouldnrt have to change rooms, but we would have to check in and out after the 2 changes

I was wondering if the new LILO system would allow for linking across systems :confused3

I did ask for my AP res to be noted with my DVC res number this morning. Agent said it would be listed as a "continuing reservation". Hope it works!
