I am a DVC member and have two reservations; 1 for AKL from Oct7-12 and then another from Oct 12-16th at BLT. Right now they have two different reservation numbers. can someone explain linking to me and why I would want to do that?
Also, on the Disneyworld website you can login and and go to my vacation planner in order to create itineraries and what not. Neither one of my reservation numbers seem to work on this website. Is it because it was a DVC reservation? Are the reservation numbers different or is it because it is still so far away?

I don't believe you can link reservations at different resorts.

Reservations can only be linked if they are at the same resort and same room type. The benefit of linking is that you would not have to change rooms in the middle of your vacation. For example, I was able to get a reservation at BWV from 10/17-20, but not the 10/20-22. I made a reservation for the 3 nights available and waitlisted for the last 2 nights. Once the waitlist came through, I had two different reservatons numbers. Then I can then call MS and have them linked.

There are reportedly some reservation system enhancements coming later this year that will allow you to do this. (They may not come in time for your 2010 trip planning, though). Here's an excerpt from the info on the Members' Website:

Booking system enhancements to debut later this year

Booking system enhancements at Disneyland®, Walt Disney World® and Disney Vacation Club® Resorts, designed to improve the Member and Guest experience, are on the way as part of one of the largest Information Technology efforts in the history of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Originally scheduled to impact Member Services' booking system this spring, the changes are now slated to debut later this year. Here's a look at some of the changes Members will experience when the enhanced systems are in place:

........(snip)......
* Members will begin creating simplified "travel plans" that combine all accommodations for their trip. Gone will be the days of booking separate reservations for every room and resort included in the trip. No more juggling multiple confirmation or cancellation numbers. Instead, a single travel plan and confirmation number will represent the entire trip, regardless of the number of rooms and resorts included. Members will no longer need to link separate reservations, as they'll be included in one travel plan.

* When booking multiple, consecutive accommodations on a travel plan, Members will be able to book advanced dining reservations as many as 180 days prior to the check-in date of the first accommodation for the length of stay (up to 10 days) of the entire travel plan.

....(snip)......

I was having problems with this yesterday, but it seemed to work today. I was worried about the 180 + 10 ADRs, because I have so many lodging confirmation numbers, and the first one I used didn't extend through the days I wanted to make ADRs (though other confirmation #s did) But, miraculously it worked!!

Anyway, I think my problem was I had two different logins for the WDW website...one I made before we were DVC members. Today, I logged into my DVC member page, and then went to dining reservations and noticed I was logged into WDW too through our DVC login. It recognized my reservation #s then.

Hope this makes sense!!

Ok, wait I am trying to understand what you mean. I have a log in for wdw and then a completely different login for dvcmember.com. Is there a way to list your being a dvcmember on the regular wdw website? or do you use your dvcmember login to also log into the wdw site?

I logged into my DVC, and then went to the WDW site, and saw I was already logged in....somehow under my DVC login. (I know it was from the DVC because I go by my middle name, but it showed my first name that I had to use when we bought DVC). You might try it, but make sure you're completely logged out of everything first.

Ok, I just did it again to make it sure it worked. First I made sure everything was logged out. I logged into my DVC, then I went to this website:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/

and it showed I was already logged in with my DVC name.

Anyway, maybe that will help...

about making dining reservations with linked ressies.... We have BCV booked from 11/12-11/20, and had to waitlist for 11/11. That waitlist came thru, but is now under a different res # which is linked to our other res #.... Will I have a problem making ADR's at 180 days for the whole lenght of our trip?? I'm hoping since the ressies are linked, there should be no problem, but you never know. Anybody had any experience with that type of situation?

I had the same situation, added a Friday to my ressies and got a different confirmation #. I was able to book yesterday for that day +10 with no problem! :thumbsup2
