I have a one week trip booked that is coming up soon. Unfortunately the Wednesday night in the middle of my trip is unavailable so I had to purchase it as a cash reservation. DVC member services is telling me there is absolutely no way to link that one night with the rest of my reservation and chances are we will have to move twice while we were there even though we are in a savannah view studio at Kidani for all of our nights.

I thought I read there was a way to crosslink points reservations with cash reservations. Is this really an option or did I just get a representative who doesn't know how to do it?

Thanks!

Was the reservation through DVC or DRC? DVC cash reservation should be treated just like a points reservation. If it is a DRC reservation, it cannot be linked. But you will need to note your reservations on each other and ask to be able to stay in the same villa. AND, so villa categories are not available for cash reservations. Hopefully, that isn't the case with yours.

Thanks for the quick response.

Both reservations - the points and the cash were made by member services. I had to make the cash one through member services in order to get the DVC cash rate. Looking at the cash reservation on the website it looks exactly like the points reservation: "Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village-Deluxe Studio - Savanna View" except one says "WDW DVC Member Points Room Only" and the cash night says "WDW DVC Member Room Only".

I wonder if AKV is the exception for the category booking with cash because the rep did tell me the savannah view was more expensive than a standard view which was also available.

Called again today and they still say it can't be linked. This is very strange!

Does your reservation have fee different numbers? I booked a cash night in the middle of a trip a few years ago and it should up as one.

I would send an email to MS and just ask them to do what they need to do with them so that you don't have to change rooms.

Ask MS to note the non-point reservation on the point reservation. Just add the note to the reservation.

Last year I had a stay at OKW which points and a cash stay in the middle (weekend nights!) booked through CRO and it was no problem to link these together at check-in. I still had to have different keys each new reservation though, but they even offered to send them round to save me having to pick them up.

Even if your reservations are not linked in advance, it should be easy enough at check in. But I get that you would expect it to be possible in advance when it was all booked through MS.

I have a week in December booked. 2 nights with points, then 1 night with cash (due to availability) then 2 nights with points (the second night done with one time points).

How do I tell if my reservations are linked? All ressies done thru MS.

They all show up on DVCMember, but as 3 separate ressies...all same room type

Only thing interesting I see is "One Accommodation in Travel Plan" on each ressie, but they are 3 travel plan numbers.

You have to request that they be linked.

Just an update. I got a rep today who understood what I was talking about and what I wanted. She linked the cash to the points reservations as a continuing reservation. She verified that I would see them as separate reservations on the website but the resort would see it as one continuing reservation and not move me. Thanks everyone!

Great, I'm glad it worked out. It didn't make any sense they couldn't/wouldn't link them assuming they were all the same category type. There have been reports of people having to check in for each day with linked reservation so be prepared for that possibility.

Well that would be a pain, but thanks for the heads-up Dean!

We had to do that with our recent one but it just entailed getting new keys.

I don't think I was clear, I believe you would have to check in for each segment (3 times). I've only had one split stay and it was not traditional in that it was a 2 night free stay provided directly by OKW (compensation for a major issue early on which we didn't use for about 10 years) plus 1 night on points. We did have to do 2 checkins but no room change. Before the last computer upgrade, I believe you would have had to check in only once but there have been a number of reports of having to check in for each segment recently. Just remind them when you check in that you are not supposed to have to move and get the final instructions how to proceed.
