Linking Disney tickets to Magic Band

I have a question about linking Disney tickets to magic bands - we've only traveled with magic bands once so I'm not that experienced with them! We are going to WDW at the end of April for a cheerleading competition. We are booked for the first night at All Star Sports, and then we have to switch hotels and move off property with DD's gym. We will have magic bands because of our one night at All Star Sports. I'm buying tickets separately, probably at the gate. Will I be able to link the tickets to our magic bands for our whole stay, despite the linked resort reservation being only for one night? Just seems like it would be so much easier than having to carry the tickets around!

Tickets are not linked to Magic Bands, they are linked to My Disney Experience accounts. The Magic Bands simply read whatever is linked to that account. Any Magic Bands you have will be able to read your accounts. You can reuse MBs from trip to trip and any bands you have will work interchangeably.

THANK YOU!!!! I had no idea how they worked, and we do still have our old magic bands too. It sounds like we will be able to find a way to use them with the tickets!

You don't have to find a way. As long as the band is showing as active it will access all the info on your MDE account including tickets. So the old bands will work for everything.

unless the old band has a weak or dead battery and then they will not work for some ride photos and videos.

I think the bands are intended to last 2 years. They do mail you new ones though with each stay if you're staying onsite (you can opt out if you prefer your old one).

They did update the band though from LY as the ones we just got 'are' thinner and feel more durable.

The battery is only necessary for ride photos and videos; it's not needed for park entry, hotel room entry or using FP+.
