Linked Reservations - Different Dining

Hi All - I apologize as I'm sure this question has been asked before but I couldn't find it. I am travelling with another family in 2022 My family booked months ago and were able to secure Main Seating. When the other family booked, only Second Seating was available so they are waitlisted for Main Seating. We've linked our reservations as we want to sit together at dinner. Will Disney know our preference is Main Seating and try to accommodate the request? Or will my family have to move to Second Seating? I'd be grateful to hear about anyone else's experience. Thanks!

I don't know that linking will move the other family up the waitlist any faster, but assuming they can get first seating you will be able to sit together. If the other family does not get reassigned, you have a choice of switching to second seating and dining together or keeping your early seating and dining separately. I suggest the other family call periodically to check on their dining request.

To make you feel more hopeful, we've been waitlisted for early dining twice and always got it.

It has always worked for us when we meet with the people who could change dining on the first day. So, if you have not been successful, try that.
