Linked Reservation ?

How does the Dining Plan work with a linked reservation? For instance, I have a reservation that is part points & part discounted cash. These are supposed to be linked together although they have different confirmation numbers. After reading the DVC Dining Plan post, my concern is whether the Dining Plan addition would be considered 1 plan (linked) or 2 separate plans (where unused portions would expire when going from the points stay to the cash stay)…

Assume you booked the cash portion through MS. If so, your reservation is treated as though it were one continuous reservation. If you purchase the Dining Plan, you would have to do it for the length of your stay and for each member of your party.

If you booked the cash portion via CRO/WDWTC, you have two separate reservations. You would have to purchase the Dining Plan for each portion separately. For the cash portion, you would have to follow CRO/WDWTC rules - i.e., you would have to add the Dining Plan to a room & ticket package and there is a 3 day minimum (to get a package). You would still be expected to purchase the DP for the entire length of the cash stay and for every person in your party.
