Now just waiting for March 7th. In the meantime, I just tried to see what would happen if I tried to book fast passes early. I kept getting a message saying “oops, make sure you’ve done this” and a list of various things to do. Is this the typical message people receive before the 30 day window begins?

If you have date-based tickets, yes, you must wait until your 30-day window opens.
