I found this post today while reading rec.arts.disney.parks and thought that I should share it with my DIS friends. I provided a link to Google Groups because I didn't feel that it was appropriate for me (or allowed) to cross post the contents of RADP here on the DIS.

I am a Cast Member

*** edited to correct typo in thread title ***

Good link. I think the CM's do deserve respect. I always do my best to give it, as I'm sure most all DISers do.:D

We have always had such positive cast members and I can't imagine people resonding to a good CM in any other way. I think everyone who works in the public like that will encounter some "grinches", but I hope most Disney guests are better than that, since "Grinch" is a Universal character!:)

Don't forget about Grumpy! ;)

I feel so sad when I hear about CM's being mistreated by visitors. They usually try so hard to be kind and happy, and that without much support from Management IMO.

Let's hear it for Disney CM's!

It always amazes the way people treat cast members, most of the time unprovked, or provoked by their own stupidity, not somehting the cast member has done.

The public is no easy to deal with, and I have to imagine that having 42 milion people running around thinkig"For what I paid for this vacation(like the rest of us are there for free;) ) I deserve this". I've heard people say it!

God bless the cast members. I have encountered very few that I would consider bad...but than again, maybe that's because I generally approach and treat them with respect.

Monorail Nazi??? I wonder if this is the guy who flipped my sister out of her wheelchair back in 1998. :earseek:

There was a whole post about the Monorail Nazi probably a year or so ago. It was something to read. I wonder if I can find it......from what I read he was AWFUL!!!!!!!

Looks like the post in question was on the Debates Board and that it is no longer available.

I've encountered those monorail CM(s). I think there may be a few like this. :( It's all about getting people herded down to the furthest waiting area. Everyone wants to bunch up near the front. They scream at and humiliate you just like the soup nazi on Seinfeld. I imagine they get sick and tired of having no one listen to them all day long and by closing time they've just had enough.

I've seen some who are really loud but nice and funny, a much better approach.

I complimented a CM at RnR last week for her patient handling of an indignant wheelchair-bound man and his extended family. They were not very nice and quite rude, insisting that they should be allowed to go through the FastPass queue b/c of the wheelchair.

She repeatedly told them that RnR was handicap accessible and, if they wanted to request a special pass, they needed to go to Guest Services. She was polite, firm, and did not give in.

When they left, she looked weary and so I made a point to tell her that I appreciated her composure and fairness. I can't believe the nerve of some of these guests!

Is Paul T still on RADP? I have not been over there in years. Ahh, the old days.

Disney CM's rule!!!

It's so good to read all the posts from people who take pride in their work. That seems so rare today.

OMG, it's been so long since I've either posted or read RADP but I'll never forget Paul T.

As for the CM, I applaude them. The handful of Guests who feel entitled to special treatment or treat "service people" with disrespect can make your day or week horrible. Yet, you must smile through it all. I give them credit for all they take in the course of their jobs.

It's too bad they can't distribute that post to every Guest as they enter a Park or Resort.

Some great thoughts there, and so very true. WDW CM's, I have always said, made it the magic that it is. I always try to include them in on the fun when I can.
