Lines other than Disney

Holland America is a wonderful line but geared for an older clientele and from hearing from different people with kids...they do not have a great kids program.

The several groups I have talked to who sailed Holland America (even in summer months) has said the average age onboard is 60.

Our friends brother and his wife took their kids along with the grandparents on a HAL cruise awhile ago. They went on the Westerdam to the W. Caribbean and when they got to Grand Cayman (they went to their private island first) they packed up all of their bags and told HAL they were leaving and flying back to Florida. She said it was the worst cruise they've been on. They flew back to Fort Lauderdale, got a hotel room for a few days, booked on RCCL and started their cruise again. "It was like going from a Nursing home to a Daycare center" is how she described the difference. They lost all their money from HAL, airfare, hotel room and a new cruise price on RCCL (of course they are wealthy so they didn't care) but I couldn't believe they flew home. I've never heard of anyone flying home unless there was illness or a family emergency.

I'd make sure you know that the cruiseline will fit you and your families lifestyle. They did not even think about it. Grandparents said lets go so they did! Grandparents raved about it but she told me it's because it was filled to the brim with old people.
