Lines for Candy

I've been told that lines to get candy during MNSSHP are not worth waiting in. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Are there better uses of my time? I heard that time flies during the party and I dont want to miss out other activities.

I didn't the candy was all that great. If you are there to ride the rides then I wouldn't worry about the candy.

do they hand out trick or treat bags(like plastic cheap ones) or do you need to bring your own. I hope I can buy one that is shapped like Mickey's head.

You each get a bag when you enter the park. The candy isn't any big deal as there isn't much chocolate and that is all I eat. DD gets a big kick out of it and insists we all go through the lines. The lines sometimes look long but go VERY fast. The lines just continuely move and you kind of breeze right through them. DD brings her collapsible princess trick or treat bag every year for it. I bought a really cute plastic jack o lantern candy bucket that had mickey ears on it. Each year they sell a real neat looking container if you don't want the give away bags.

We were just there and the trick or treat buckets they had were very flimsy. Seems like they could break by just dropping them on the ground. DD wanted a Stitch one but I said no. You might want to check a Target or Wal-mart to see what they offer if you don't want a bag.

Just another opinion: DH and I thought it was good candy. If I remember correctly some of it is miniature candy bars type - some chocolate. Being adults (yea, right!!) we just used the plastic bags they give you and we each probably got 1/2 bag full each. Plenty to keep us happy. The lines do move really quick. I think we hit every spot last year. And no one looks at you funny, at least I didn't see anyone looking at us funny. And we had time to ride plenty of rides and see the parade before these two old folks turned into pumpkins! The night we went there were no lines in Frontierland/Adventure Land were our favorite rides are! I think most folks with kiddies stay in the Fantasyland part.
It is a fun event! Hope you enjoy!

Do they give candy to the adults? I didnt think they would for some reason...Speaking of lines during MNSSHP, does anyone know how the lines for the rides are during the Halloween party (we're going to the first one on Sept.30th)?

They do give candy to adults. When we were there with mom, 84 at the time, we were leaving early, after the fireworks. The CM at the exit didn't think mom had enough, and filled her bag up!

We've always come away with "enough," and we don't wait in long lines.

We're going to the one on the 30th as well!

My DH and I both had very full bags when we left MNSSHP -- and it was good candy. We would love to get back to WDW to do it again. But, we can't go for Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Last year on the 12th ( I think ! ) . We basically only went to the lines if they were short, most were not very long anyway and by the end of the night there was NOBODY in the lines at all. They were dumping HUGE amounts of candy into the bags, we were actually telling the CMs no thank you, but they said that at the end of the nights their boxes needed to be empty. Evidentally none of the open boxes could be carried over until the next day.

We came home with so much candy ( tons of the full size fun dips ) that we actually gave them out on Halloween. There was no possible way we could have comsumed all that candy ourselves .

So if you plan on staying until closing wait until the end, plus that way you are not carrying it around all night.

I never met a candy I didn't like and although I don't worry about it, I am always concerned about its well being

I agree. I thought the candy was good too. I enjoyed the snickers, pixie sticks, mily ways, laffy taffys, etc. My mom loved those flavored tootsie rolls. The lines were not bad at all and they keep them moving very swiftly. Plus if you are there at close they are basically throwing the candy at you.

We've been there twice for the Halloween party. We always enjoyed getting and eating the candy. One year, we got so much, that we had to bring the candy home with us on the plane. The candy lines moved very quickly.

The first time we went, my DS was not feeling well, so I took his bag and got it filled up for him. At first, I was embarrassed and felt that I had to explain to the CMs why I (an adult) was collecting candy. But after a few times, I realized that they didn't care!!! So, I just stuck my bag out, smiled, and collected candy all night!

In 2003 we did sold-out Halloween night. For the first 3 hours the lines were long. I know some reported that they moved quickly. The first 2 we did weren't very quick and we must of waited about 7-8 minutes which is ridiculous for what they were giving.

Then last year we went to the 10/1 party. The whole party seemed really empty compared to the year before. So, we hit each of the candy lines-- some my DS repeated later in the night.

I can say no matter which party you go to-- if you can wait until the last 45 minutes or so they are very, very generous with the candy. I know we hit up Toontown in the final 15 minutes of the party both years and they were emptying their boxes into DS's bags.

So the plan is: 7-9pm ride the rides. 9pm stop to see the fireworks then catch a ride or story while waiting for the last parade. Ride a few more rides, and come 11pm pretend your Cinderella leaving the ball before the clock strikes 12... i.e. dash from line to line and soak up as much candy as possible. Even if you're a grown up just tell yourself your getting candy for the kids back home.

I can live with that plan.

Question-
Does each line have a mix of candy or what? In other words... can I score more chocolate by picking the correct lines or is it all hit or miss (or beg?).

Disney and Candy and Free dining- can it get any better than that?

If I remember correctly last year at each one of the candy stations there was two sides (at least the ones by COP and in Timekeeper for sure becuase they gave us gobs of candy as we were leaving). So you got in line on one side and got your candy. The candy at the COP station last year was a mix of fun size M&M's, Mini Milkyways, mini snickers, etc and you just got what they put in your bag. Inside the time keeper all they had were those flavored tootsie rolls on both sides.

Our bags were fairly full last year and we brought the candy home and placed it in a halloween themed basket on our table to share with everyone.

Also when you leave the party at night they hand out a big full size candy of some sort (I'm not sure if it is the same for every party or not), but last year we got Willy Wonka Shockers as we excited at the train station.

I'd have to agree with that. The one time I went to MNSSHP it was a solo trip and I also didn't figure adults could get candy. No one ever gave ME a bag! LOL But later towards the end of the night I noticed adults getting candy and some bags being passed out- so I got one and went in a few lines that were literally only a few people in line... candy was great to take home to the kiddos that next day. LOL

This time with the kids we'll probably do the same as I did- focus on riding rides and such... get candy later.
