Hi all,
The family and I will be heading to "The World" this August. My daughter will be 4, so no issues for her standing/waiting in line, but my son on the other hand will be about 14 months or so. I assume he will be able to walk at that point (based on what he's doing now), but obviously don't expect him to stand in lines. So, we know we'll have to hold him, but as that can get heavy after a while, I was wondering if anyone has used a sling of any sort for a child of this age to at least take the weight off your arms/back. Any other suggestions are welcome of course.

Do you have an Ergo or a Tula right now? Does your son like being carried in it? Up until my boys were about 14 months they were happy to be in the Ergo if we had to ditch the stroller for a reason. I highly recommend trying it now if you don't use one yet just to see if your son will even go for it. Some kids love it and others don't.

I use our Tula for lines! Or for naps when needed when my daughter fights sleep! It's so wonderful because they really save your back and arms. My daughter is 2.5 and I still throw her in the Tula toddler when needed when out and about.

I used a sling for my son in the lines at Disney when he was that age (well, actually he was 9 months and 2 and 3). I had a Maya Wrap and a Baby Bjorn and used both-- I carried both in the park daily and alternated which one I used at various times of the day. DH took turns holding him sometimes as well. If you utilize FP, that will also help cut down on the waiting time, and having something to distract him will help as well.

I would get a structured carrier, like an Ergo, that you can wear on your front or back. I never took my Ergo to Disney (DS was almost 3 by the time we went), but I used it LOTS of other places and it was a life saver!

Thanks for the responses so far. :) Anyone heard of or used a Peanut Shell sling? I like that they are basically just some material that can be stuffed into the stroller when not in use. Right now we have a Babybjorn and while it works well, I see little man as being too big for it by the end of August.
And ooohhh yes will we be making use of fastpasses to avoid crazy-long lines. I have a feeling that Frozen Ever After is going to be THE ride for my 4 year old, so a fastpass there should avoid some backbreaking line waits.

The Ergo has a front carry limit of 27 lbs. though, according to the booklet (and to my back).

We also used our Tula a lot when we were there the first time with our son (he was 13 months). We also used FP as much as possible. I wore my son on front up to around 25 lbs. I still wear him occasionally he is like 27 lbs now but mostly on my back and in a toddler tula. He is on the skinnier size for his age but over 25 lbs is starting to push it a bit in terms of wearing him for more then a few minutes. Depends on the size of your child.

I used my lillebaby. It has a front facing position which I used for the rides. Weight limit 45lbs and a very nice lumbar support.

image.jpeg I wear my DD in our Tula in the line or let her down to play in the interactive queues when available. Our Tula is a life saver. She's been at 3m, 9m, 19m and is going at 2 1/2. Fully plan on containing in the Tula as much as possible. here we are Sept 2016 at Princess Fairytale Hall waiting in a (short) line in the morning.

So you bring a stroller and then put her in the carrier when in lines?? (New to this traveling with a baby thing as I will be taking my daughter on her first trip for her first birthday in Sept!)

yes that is what we do. I use a large Vera Bradley back pack and fold the Tula into that. There is a great way to actually fold and roll the Tula to make it somewhat compact and it fits. Sometimes we just put it in the basket underneath the stroller but wouldn't leave it there unattended.

That is what we did too. My daughter is 27lbs and I can't carry her all day. She also rode the buses in the carrier. That was a saving grace for us.

Yup, we bring our stroller and usually park it in one spot within each "land" and then walk all around the land and then move the stroller once we move on. She rides in the stroller, too, especially if it's hot or she's ready for a nap. When I wear her (or my husband, he loves wearing her too), we use the stroller to hold the bag(s).

Edit to add-- we don't ever leave the bag in the stroller when it's left parked somewhere. We may leave a cooler bag with water bottles (I have a muscle/kidney issue that necessitates I drink an insane amount of water and it's easier to have it with us versus relying on QS water) but we wouldn't be upset if that was stolen. Anything valuable comes with us.

Now in EPCOT and DHS, we tend to continue to take it with us versus leaving it. Haven't done AK since she was born, however we did the same when our son was little and still in a stroller.
