Line Jumping?

Okay.. *zips up his flame proof suit*

I guess I don't understand the issue at all. To me, line jumping is where people jump into the line from a non-entry point, intent on not waiting their turn.

However, if anyone of their party is in that line, they DID 'wait' their turn, imho. yes, it still bothers me, and those that shove to get up to their line holder should be made to leave the queue all together... that said, I just don't understand the difference between 5 people standing in the line though the whole line, and 1 person standing in the whole line, later joined by 4. either way, that is still 5 people in front of you. The fact that 4 didn't stand in the line doesn't mean they didn't wait the same amount of time to ride. :confused3

I esp. wish I had another adult who could wait in the line and phone me and DD when closer to the end of line. That way we could wait in an area away from the crush of people, and prevent meltdowns and panic attacks. :confused3

But, seeing as I am a single parent, the whole thing is moot.

let me try to reexplain... it is like the one who talked about being in the store... if someone comes to catch up with their party at the check out that is one thing.. but to just step in front of you... THAT is line jumping, not the first one.

so 4 from start to finish, and 1 at start +3 later.. still finishes with 4. :teacher: so 4 = 4. whats the deal? :confused3

*go hides under a rock as I am sure most will not look at this without emotions.*

OMG A KINDRED SPIRIT!!!!!!

I just....I mean.....

I never thought this day would come. Is there a tear wiping emotcon?

I want to thank all those who made it possible...my mother and father..God in heaven ....my 2nd grade teacher...my agent....

I have said before that the Dumbo Drop doesn't bother me, that said my only issue with what you are saying is that how do I know, by looking at a line that there are 20 invisible riders in it.

I then have to look at a line and assume that each person I can see has 4 waiters (with them/but not with them) it makes deciding where to go and what to line up for very difficult. Especially when I am not great at math. Anything where adding extra people that doesn't affect my waiting time is fine by me, but when I enter a line with an expectation of waiting 20 mins and all these "invisible" waiters show up and join my wait increases by 10 mins that makes me cranky.

Does any of that make sense???? it made sense in my head.

They can build that in to the total wait time posted so there are no surprises. Problem solved.

Now if I could just figure out how to avoid the pushing/jostling.....

How about on Soarin'...they install a pit road queue next to the main queue..right along side it...for people leaving and joinging their parties in the actual queue..it's wide enough right? this could work.....

......To dreammmmm the impossible dreammmmm.....:rolleyes1

It makes perfect sense if it's a ride that is not Dumbo - say Toy Story - where you have 4 seats and those 4 seats get filled, regardless of who you are with - if you have mom/dad/bubba a 4th single person goes in that 4th seat. So if you have 'extra' people, those extra people are going increase your wait.

If you have 20 invisible people on dumbo who are going to sit with the 1 person who is already in line there, then no, your wait doesn't increase at all because those 20 singles will take the same space as 20 doubles. NOW, if those 20 extra people all expect to take a separate dumbo, then YES 100% your wait has just increased. but on lots of rides one person or 3 people all sit together -like if we go on space ship earth and we can fit 3 in our car..and I wait alone and my husband and baby join me at the end, I still haven't take up some one else wait - because either I am going to ride in that car alone, or I'm going to ride with 3 people, but we still take up only one car.

I think that's the big difference between line jumping and doing the dumbo swap.

Since the OP question was answered, can we please close this thread? For the sake of my sanity. I am just very tired of reading arguments over topics that have already been beaten to death. Now they are just taking up space.

ROFL. actually, 200 answers to a single thread doesn't take up any more space than 1 answer.

On the point about it not being fair for the kid to get to ride twice without waiting in line twice, would it make any difference to look at things a little differently? Maybe it's the parents driving the bus. Does that make things different?

Picture it: Three-person family, on their first Disney trip, looking to wring out every possible magical memory. As they approach Dumbo, mom says "ok, I'll sit with our little angel. You can ride behind us."

Dad says "Wait, what? I thought I was going to ride with snookums, and you'd ride behind."

So they decide that the only fair thing to do is for each of them to take turns riding right next to the kid, so that each one gets the exact same magical memory. Mom and baby get in line, dad waits 20-odd people then also gets in line. They all wait, but not exactly together. Each adult gets one ride with his/her favorite little accessory, and junior incidentally gets two rides.

Seems fair to me. ;)

In some jungle cultures it is acceptable to hit the person in the back of the head with the hardest piece of grocery in your cart if they do this. Same applies if they stop to write a check instead of paying with cash debit or credit.

I will have to remember this:lmao:

I actually found the experience more funny then anything. Sometimes I am so surprised by what is acceptable to people. I seriously looked both ways and smiled, thinking... UM.... OK......and holding back the inapropriate laughter issue I have.

I have a rather obvious suggestion. :goodvibes

umm just stop reading it, I have actually found this particular thread quite civil, and interesting. I don't often read these types of threads, because I usually use my time on here researching stuff to do with my trip. It is that easy to do I don't read it if I don't want to the power of owning my own computer.

My kids like Dad better I have to beg them to ride with me. :guilty:

Sorry, LOL I am obviously going to stop reading it as it doesn't help anything I need to know. I just meant "taking up space" by one line jumping thread yesterday, followed by 2-3 other threads today by people "apologizing" for how they acted in those threads (since the were closed), and then this one.

LOL..and I can't tell you when ours was little (and we just had one) that this very convo happened. Luckily many rides we could all squish in 3 together.

agreed. This is one of the nicer threads.

So skinny people have to sit 3 in a car while pooh size people can ride 2 in a car? LOL, ok, let's discuss this aspect......

I never post on these types of heated discussions. But I have to this time. :rotfl2:

Ok, TECHNICALLY, it does not lengthen anybody's wait time. However, it is slightly ANNOYING! Here's why I think it can be annoying:

Little Johnny rides with Mom. Dad is in line already..

Annoying scenario #1: Dad gets to the front of the line before Mom can hand off little Johnny b/c Johhny was soooo excited by the first ride that now he needs a potty break. Or something. So now others have to go around Daddy until he has possession of little Johnny. That's annoying to me (and probably to dad too!). Even though it does not technically lengthen anybody's ride time, it just is a little annoying.

Annoying scenario #2: Daddy is in a spot in line where little Johnny can't be easily lifted over the railing to Dad. So Mom has to physically walk through the line to get him to Daddy. Again, that is a little annoying. Not WRONG technically, just annoying.

I DONT get upset when kids need potty breaks and need to leave the line and get back into line again. Heck, I have kids and understand that when they have to go, THEY HAVE TO GO! However, I personally think families should try to wait together. I enjoy that time with my family. If we want to go on a ride twice, we all wait together twice. Life is tooooo hectic to be worrying about chucking bubba, jetting johnny, or whatever they call it. Slow down a little. If Johnny HAS to ride twice, do it again later.

P.S. I paid alot of $$ for my trip too! :goodvibes We are park-commandos and have it down to a science to be able to ride most rides multiple times a day without these gimmicks. However, our only personal rule is wait as a family. No hand-offs! Its technically ok that others do it, as it usually doesnt REALLY affect anybody's wait time, its just annoying to me! Not much will seriously make me upset because I am at DISNEY WORLD. But I do find some things slightly annoying.
