Line Cutting

I'm sorry, but you are wrong. If every family has this additude, where would we be? Its OK for you guys to do it, but no one else? Or is it OK for everyone to do this, hence no one ever gets on a ride because everyone else is more important than the next person.
You get out of line, for whatever reason, you do not get back in where you "left off." You left the line, hence negating your position in that line. No matter if you babys daddy is still standing there.

Why would no one ever get on a ride if everyone was able to join their party?

As I have stated in a previous post...... if you have a party of 4 and you have one person stopping to go to the bathroom and the ride you are going on seats 2 to a seat, that person catching up with the remaining party is not going to slow down the line one bit. The party of 4 needs 2 "cars" in that attraction, the party of 3 also needs 2 cars in that attraction. What is the difference if the person stops to go potty and joins the rest of their party. They aren't making the line longer for anyone behind them. Their party is in line, they are taking 2 cars either way.. whether there are 3 or 4 seated in those 2 cars.. :confused3 That is my point... and do I do that.. yes I do.. will it make you wait longer, if you think it does, then you need to stop and rethink how the cars are loaded.. If the party that the person is catching up to, is going to take the same amount of cars up anyway, it will not effect anyone who is wait time behind them. Are they "cutting in line"? No, they are not. Now if you have an uneven number and you are taking up more cars.. then yes, it will slow the line.. do I do that.. no.. I do not. I watch what rides we are going on when I dash in for my pit stop.. and maybe others do... so stop and think of the cars and the lines.. you don't know how many are online ahead of you, you don't know that the person catching up to their party really isn't slowing you down... so don't jump the gun on everyone.. and if someone is going to try and stop me, I will call a CM to assure the rude guest that I am not in the wrong

Just saying it is interesting how we change opinions in life. No snark. No underlying meanings.
I don't understand. I'm not being snarky either. I don't know where I changed my opinion. I was simply stating what I found a couple weeks ago.

I'm referring to the people who are waiting their turn in line. Obviously the people cutting, i.e. the ones "catching up to their party" would be able to get right on.

yes they will, especially if they really have their party up there waiting for them :goodvibes wouldn't you be embarrassed to find out after yelling at them that they really did have their family there ..;)

I am sooooo sorry. Confused your post and the poster after yours. My apologies.

so the car goes around the attraction with 1 sitting in it instead of 2, how does this get you on the ride any faster? and please don't use the term baby's daddy. My baby's daddy is my husband & we are in our 50's. Our children are adults, not baby's. It is me that has to potty.. should I wear depends so I can just pee in my pants? I am not saying it ins't ok for others to do it, you are... lol
hey, if someone has to go to the bathroom, or if a child is having a melt down, there is nothing wrong with leaving the line and getting back on to join your party. You seem to be the one having a problem with it, not me. If they were ON the line already, they were AHEAD of you anyway, so what difference does it make to you, Why should you and your party jump ahead because one (or two in the case of a child melt down) had to leave for a moment?
And if I made a pit stop while the rest of my party goes ahead of me, as long as we weren't going to be taking up an extra car by me doing this, it doesn't matter. The amount of cars are still the same being use. You just seem to be upset by the fact of someone walking past you.. that is the problem I see with your view. It isn't about the wait. Do I like line cutter's, no.. that is wrong, but this is not line cutting. This is a case of someone is already there, and no extra cars are being use, therefore NOT making YOUR wait any longer than what it already is.. can you not see that?

I can't believe that I am getting involved in this but oh well, here I go....

I don't think the point (at least in my view) is that someone catching up to their party is going to make wait times for those behind that party significantly longer (unless every single party was doing this of course). IMHO, I think the point is that by sending your party into the line and then catching up with them, you are making your own wait time shorter. Why is your (not necessarily you, but someone catching up to their party in general) time more valuable than that of everyone who waited in line from the beginning? Why does someone who chooses or needs to stop and use the bathroom/park a stroller/get a snack/etc...get a shorter wait time than someone who gets in line with their whole party and waits starting at the very end of the line?

To me, leaving and coming back is a different story. Would I do it? At this point in my life, no. Later in life when I may possibly have a small child who suddenly needs to use the bathroom? Possibly, depending on the wait time and our current position in line.

Further, would I stop someone from joining their party in line? Most likely not. Unless 20 people were trying to join 2 or something like that!

why do the people in my party have to stand outside the bathroom just looking at each other? Isn't their time valuable too? This is a personal choice for each person. While my decision doesn't make your wait any longer, it also doesn't make my party stand and wait for me every hour when I make a pit stop either. Isn't everyone's time valuable? :goodvibes If I am not intruding on another persons wait, I see nothing wrong with sending my party ahead.. as I have said.. I have had bladder surgery and I go often. Should I penalize my party and make them wait every single time I have to go? :confused3 I would think not. Try stopping outside of a bathroom every hour when you are at Disney for at least 3 minutes.. then tell me I am wrong to send my party ahead.. I know you said not me per-say... Why are the other guests time more valuable than those in my party by having them stand outside the bathroom and wait for me .. once an hour just so we can walk on the attraction line together.. ;)

I am not trying to make my wait time shorter either, but trying to make them not have to stand around a bathroom.. sometimes I catch up before they are even in the line, other times they have just gotten on the line, or just a few guest deep. It is very rare that they are near the front of the line.. very very rare.. only time that has happened is when the park is empty. Then it doesn't matter because no one is behind me :rotfl:

Embarrassed? No. I'd be embarrassed if I thought it was OK to push past people (even if doing it with smiles and saying "excuse me") to get to where I feel I deserve to be in line. I don't have an "entitlement issue", so I don't do that....

Like I've said, no matter what the reason, if you get out of line, your out of line. If my child (or even myself) has to go to the bathroom, then I'll take her to the bathroom. If my other child wants to stay in line and ride, then DH will stand there with her, and ride it - the DD that had to go to the bathroom will miss out. Its life - deal with it. And if its just me with two kids, and one simly can't hold it, then we all get out of line and deal with the fact that we will either not ride that attraction at that time, or have to get to the back of the line again. You can't always have your cake and eat it too - Why do parents feel the need to shelter their children from this fact??

The ride isn't going anywhere - plan correctly, and you will be able to ride it at a later time.

Ooh, and I'm sorry, but its not my problem (or everyone elses at Disney) that your child is having a meltdown. Sorry :confused3

ETA - When my DHs parents took him to Disney many years ago, it was for a "last trip" because his father had Lupus, and they didn't give him much time. He had major surgery, and had to stop off at every single bathroom they saw. Often he had to leave in the middle of a line ride to go to the bathroom because of his issues. His additude was - It is what it is. He didn't feel that he had the right to cut back into line because of his issues. Happy ending.... Now years later, he still has Lupus, but hes doing well. Still has to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes (not really, but it seems that way!) but hes still living and enjoying life - wheather he has to go to the back of the line or not.

I'm curious... have you ever been in a line (and let's think about the 40min+ lines at WDW) with a child that all of a sudden "HAS to go"? Or are you simply saying "In the future, when/if that happens to me... "?

READ lady.. I am NOT talking about a child in my post.. I am talking about ME. I am 54 years old.. not a child.. and if I have to pee, I am going to pee.. I will not push my way thru, if I cannot get to my party, I will get a CM to escort me to them.. not to worry about that ;) Would you rather me pee when I hit a bump on the ride?

You are so correct in stating you cannot have your cake and eat it too. We all make personal choices.. Your choices are yours and mine are mine. As long as I am not interfering with someones wait time, I am not line cutting. If your choice is to leave the line and not get back on, then so be it, go for it, but don't tell me to do it. You cannot tell me that I cannot join my party, only a CM can tell me that. They usually don't do that, they will actually help you get to them when needed. Gee.. maybe I should get a GAC so I can get on and off the line to use the potty? It is medical reason?! Then you cannot say anything as I leave and come back! Just food for thought.
On a good note, I am glad to hear that your FIL is doing good :goodvibes I am not a mean person, just one who when she has to go.. has to go and will go.. and then go back to her party...

I am sooooo sorry. Confused your post and the poster after yours. My apologies.

I think you may have been referring to my post about changing my mind about accepting those who may "cut" in line after our last trip, whereas, in the past I was adamantly oppossed to anyone "breaking the rules".

After our recent trip, I just found it not to be that big of an issue. I still won't do it myself. I know not everyone is completely honest about their motives, but I guess I'm getting too old to really care as long as it's just a handful of people doing it. I still don't advocate others doing it, it's just that I don't see it as that big of a deal when done occassionally. I actually found myself feeling sorry for some of them as I could see they truly wanted to catch up with their family, but couldn't get through. Fortunately, in the situations I saw, the lines would zig zag enough to cut under the rope for someone to catch up to their party. I never saw any confrontations/dirty looks or heard rude comments about it. Everyone (both the person catching up & those being passed) seemed accomodating and understanding, myself included.

Like I've said, no matter what the reason, if you get out of line, your out of line.
I'd just like to point out getting out of line to use the bathroom is OK w/CM's if not "officially" by Disney. Don't believe me?

We were in line for Jungle Cruise 10 days ago (so VERY recent). My dad (60+) had to "go". He ducked into the FP line and exited to use the bathroom. The rest of our family stayed in the standby line. Imagine our surprise when we saw him standing where the FP & standby lines meet!

The CM "guarding" the FP line saw him leave to go to the bathroom and TOLD him to come back through and he'd let him go to catch up. So that's what he did. He was chatting up a storm with CM's while waiting for us.

So, huh... I guess not only does Disney NOT keep people from catching up to their party, they actually HELP! What does that tell you?

that is a good question.. ... or when she is on a line and she has a weak bladder when she gets older, will she get off the line.. when she has to stop every hour.. will she send her party ahead or make them wait outside every pit stop.. some cannot see it unless they are doing it.. and not as she stated in her post with her FIL.. I live 3 hours from Disney and go often, which means when I my kids are with me, or any of my friends, it isn't once in a blue moon.. it is many many times a year.. am I to have them wait every single time I stop :confused3 when you walk in the shoes.. then you comment..
and yes, children cannot hold it, children have meltdowns and need to get off the line for a little bit and rejoin their family.. walk in the shoes then state we are wrong... we aren't saying jump the ropes, or sneak under the bars.. we are not line cutting.. this in not the same thing... it is not going to effect her wait time one way or another... just gets her mad that someone is walking past her.. and she cannot understand why...

Yes, and at Universal as well. I have even had some unhook the rope for me so I can get out faster...:thumbsup2 and they helped me find my family when coming back in...

We've had the same experience many times. Although I've also never encountered anyone upset that we had to leave and come back nor get mad that we were trying to catch up to DH and the kids. I don't have an entitlement attitude though so maybe that's why no one got mad? ;)
