line cutting

If you just stand you ground in the line without moving it is hard to get around a few people without getting physical.

As far as it ruining my day, it would bother me by letting someone cut in front of me far longer than stopping them.

Actually, I appreciate when someone else does the "dirty work" and stands their ground before the violator gets up to me. I usually acknowledge them for doing it!! :thumbsup2

We all know what's right is right!!

Yeah thats weird... all of my trips the last seven years except one were early to mid June and while it's definitely not an epidemic, I would say over a 10 day stay, there's at least 5 incidiences with folks weedeling their way up through the line without waiting. For me the more it happens over the trip the more likley I am to start blocking out. I mean I don't wan't confrontation at WDW either, but after a while enough is enough. :snooty:

Blocking out, that's a good basketball term for it. Just simply spreading out your stance and sticking your booty out. Very effective.

Or as my DD calls it "planting yourself"

If she gets planted you aren't moving her! If she can stand there and hold onto the ball as a highschool girl runs into her full force from 3rd base, a rude adult trying to push past in a line isn't going to get by.

For those of you who played the over on the over-under line, you can pick up your winnings at the window, and thanks to all who played. :rotfl:

Does it really matter? I can't stand line cutters, whether it be at Disney or the people in the construction zone who don't merge until the last possible moment. I just always think that I am doing the right thing, so if people do the wrong thing, let them. Setting a bad example by attacking them or tripping them doesn't help. Is it worth not enjoying your trip because you are getting all het up about something you can't control?

This is actually the way your are SUPPOSED to do it, the sign even says to use both lanes until merge points. The police in Pittsburgh actually yell at those motorists that merge too soon or block others that merge where they are supposed to.

Right on brah, take up some space, fill in the lane....must be all the great basketball action going on right now.

Kind of like the Juggernaut...an impenetrable force!! :)

I actually wasn't being hyperbolic in the quote you were referring to. I was making reference to a PP who stated that someone who holds their position in line instead of giving way to a line cutter would be in the wrong and could be committing a crime. While the PP didn't specifically say that line cutters rights should supersede someone who had an established position, that idea was clearly inferred. You can reread those posts to your hearts content if you wish, I have already done so. And you certainly have the right to look the other way as someone else breaks the rules in front of you, but I choose not to. That is certainly the great thing about discussion boards and all that.

Good enough. One man's hyperbole... I found it hyperbolic and even after your clarification continue to see it that way. I believe the PP you refer to wasn't talking about the rights of the person to cut in line, but rather whether their breaking of the rules justifies physical intervention. Of course, there was hyperbole there as well given the whole definition of a hip check and all. That part was actually quite amusing. I have a great mental image of someone remaining in a crouched position in a long line waiting to spring into action against a line-cutter. :lmao:

Anyway, yes, I have the right to look the other way and given the rarity of the occurrence and my lack of knowledge about that person's circumstances, I choose to do just that. But, I feel relieved knowing that I have you and Bullseye looking out for me. Hopefully in a crouched and ready position. ;)

That's meant as a friendly joke by the way, lest the winking emoticon didn't reflect that sufficiently.

Glad to help, Zelly. Unless of course if you're behind us in line ...in which case the "Evil Doer" would violate your rightful place in line but not ours. :)

Again - I don't think its intimidating or threatening. I just don't think that my family would ever feel the need to do it or be somewhere we felt it was our only option to keep people from passing us. The sad part is I'm sure I'm not the only one that's happened to.

No I don't condone line cutting, if its a problem we tell the CM. Sometimes its dealt with and most of the time not. The general lack of response from Disney in doing anything about it is enough to tell me they don't think its a problem. Its not my place to police a Disney queue. If someone else feels it is, they do so at their own risk. Disney does not look kindly on physical altercation or intimidation.

If that guy at Pooh who tried to block them after the cm told them to come up had put his hand on Melissa or Holden, or for that matter anybody ever tries to physically separate me from my children or family, or some Barny Fife self-appointed line deputy "hip checks" into my wife or kids, they will end up in jail like Victoria Walker. If I hadn't been with my daughter on dumbo when that dude tried to physically intimidate her at pooh that cat's day would have been ruined.

It is quiet amazing how some people care about not breaking any rules when stop cutter, when cutter is infact the one who breaks the rules. Someone pushed you, got physicall on you and you tell me I have to stay still or I am in trouble? Is this for real? If someone will push me, they should be worry because I will not be quiet, I will push them away from me, it is called defence, and I will throw a scene and call CM on someone because my stay at park suppose to be safe and I was attacked. And do not make up stories about people being thrown away from parks or property for defending themself, not only it is crazy, nobody actually followed CMs and people who got involved into situation to know for sure how it played out. As I said before,I do not block anyone and do not care much if someone cut as long as they do not decide to physically remove me from their way.

I am one of those who takes up all the "available space" if I notice line cutters. I'm not going to let it ruin my vacation, but I do find cutting annoying.

In January we had just walked into SM and had some teenagers push by us on the stairway to catch up with their friends ahead of us. My dd15 kept on them for most of the line about how rude they were and their friends in front of them should have just stopped and waited for them to catch up. At least, they had the decency to look embarrassed. I think it was more powerful coming from someone their own age rather than from some old person like me! We finally hit a point where dh and I told her that she made her point and to give it up.

We ended up getting our revenge as we still ended up on the ride before they did. We split into groups of 2 and they wanted to stay with their group of 5.:lmao: Sometimes Karma works!

If you mean physically separate you by just standing in line and not moving then YOU are the one who has chosen to "physically" separate yourself from your child not me. AND if you put your hands on me to move me while I am just standing there then you are the one who will be getting the police called on. You are not allowed to touch someone else but you can stand all you want.

Groups should just stay together in the first place.

It happens all the time at Disney nowadays. They used to care, but they don't anymore. They are short staffed. Funny we were at US/IOA a few wekes ago and had to secretly do a hurrah when a TM there called security and had cutters escorted out of the park--ahh remember when Disney cared!

sadly I do remember. Before the accountants and the lawyers took over.

It is funny but this is one area that even Six Flags seems to care about more and has signs posted warning people.

Yeah I have to agree, I have never seen a CM do anything about reported line cutters at WDW. Maybe if they straight up witness it, but never if it is reported.

And you're right about six flags too. They're very specific about line jumping and it's posted!

I thnk some of you all are awfully unlucky. In 20 trips or so since 1976, I think we have dealt with maybe 3 or 4 cutters ever. I can't imagine getting upset with the restroom break type of issue, but wouldn't care for people slamming through.

And this is written in which rule book???? good grief...:rotfl:
I dare anyone to comment to me about doing this while I am at Disney.......seriously folks...come on..get a life!! Its Sunday..go do something more productive and let this one go.:thumbsup2

Funny...I don't remember saying that this was in any rule book. In fact, I even said it was MY OPINION, which I am allowed to express on a forum board even if it IS a Sunday. If you do not like the topic and do not want to discuss the issue at hand, you can open a new thread.
