Lindsay Lohan admits bulimia

It's too bad when these girls feel they have to be so skinny to be popular. I try very hard to tell my girls that wieght is just a number, like age, it all deoends on how healthy you are. I diet but I am unhealthy and overweight. I do not do extreme diets or pills, I do weight watchers.

People tend to dwell on actresses weight all the time. When they get too skinny they call them sick, when they gain a few pounds they are getting fat. Look at all the comments about Mariah Carey here just the last few days. There was a lot of she got so fat comments...yet she is probably a normal, healthy weight...she just dresses bad.

So who exactly is it who thinks all the "lolly pop heads" look good? The media talks about them in a negative way. Is it directors who want them to be that thin? Who?

I wish all of these ladies would talk to some actual, real life straight men. There are a whole darned lot of men (date I say most?) who like a few curves on a woman, rather than pure skin and bones.

A good example of that would be Ally McBeal. Courtney Thorne Smith has mentioned in several interviews, as well as Portia DeRossi, that she felt pressure to lose weight because of Calista being so thin and it became a competition even though she knew deep down it was unhealthy.

Wow. Once again I'm totally confused. Everything I read (even in the beginning of the show) said Calista was sick and the other two were the hot women on the show. It even appeared that that was the message on the show. Even the secretary was written to be more attractive. I always thought they wrote Ally as a mousy loser? :confused3

You whapped the nail right on the head....

::yes::

I don't know if it is what the public is saying necessarily that is driving these young female celebrities to practically starvation as much as it is the image that producers and directors want. I read a story a few months back in a magazine. It was about the costume design industry for TV. Many of them said that if a female star got any heavier than a size 4 they would be taunted as fat and told their job was at risk. Imagine that. A size 6 is fat?

Then you look at ads for these weight loss places. I forget who that Joe Millionaire woman Zora is spokeswoman for. I saw an ad last night for them that she did and she was bragging about going from a size 10 to a size 4. Size 10 is fat? Especially when I thought she looked somewhat tall and I looked up her height and the woman is 5'11".

I give her credit for coming out and announcing her problem.
Too bad the other actresses/singers haven't done the same.

Best wishes on getting well Lindsay!

The reason why all these actresses are small - is quite simple.

Free Clothes.

If they are that tiny...they are therefore "sample sized". Meaning - they can fit into a "sample gown" that a designer would have on hand...

There was actually an article about this in Glamour or Allure this past month (I get both magazines...I forget which I read it in...) quite interesting...pathetic IMO...but interesting

At least she's FINALLY being honest, after denying it for a long time.

If the entertainment industry didn't think the "lolly pop heads" looked good, they wouldn't have jobs (much like us chubby women). They wouldn't be paid millions of dollars, and they wouldn't have all the perqs that go with their careers.

But, I think the industry is fickle. Let's take the case of Lara Flynn Boyle. She couldn't get a job for years, but now that she's "put on a few pounds", she has a new series.

It seems arbitrary the way the entertainment industry decides who is thin and who is too thin. It seems that the only way someone is dubbed too thin is when the public starts noticing. It seems to be a 5 pounds margin. There doesn't appear to be such a vast difference in weight among these actresses.

What big jobs have they got after they went "lollypop"?

Check out Lohan's calandar for 2006. Nothing but shots from at least a year ago.

When was the last time she was on the over of anything beyond a tabloid? I've seen magazine articles about her new album and they all used older pictures.

Calista got a lot of press regarding her weight. The more press you get, the hotter a commodity you are even if it's bad press. And I was a big fan of the show and never got the impression Ally was supposed to be a mousy loser.

I thought that Lindsay was a cute young teen actress. Why would she go and ruin it all? I just don't "get" the need to be ultra-thin!

I hope she gets the help she needs.
