Hello,
My family and I are planning our first trip to Disney and are looking at different areas to rent a house. So far the one we like the best (that is in our price range) is in Lindfields Reserve. Is this a good place to be? Looking at all the homes on the internet is quite overwhelming and everyone claims to be 15 - 20 minutes away from WDW.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michelle

Hello, we stay about a mile from Lindfields for 3 months. I totally appreciate your comment about how confusing shopping for houses can be. Lindfields is located just off highway 192 which is the main hwy that goes south of Disney. It is a very nice location to get to Disney. Most of the homes in Lindfield's are 3 to 10 years old. Lindfield's was one of the first developements along 192 to offer rental homes.

To get to Disney, if you are in the front of develpment (closer to 192) take hwy 192 east to either the Sherberth road entrance or all the way to Disney off 192. If you search "sherberth road" on this site you will find many threads about this little shortcut. Either way you will be in Disney in less than 10 minutes and in the parking lots within 20 minutes.

If your home in the rear section of Lindfield's, at the very end of Lindfield's ave or Blvd you turn left on Funie Steed Road. Take this for about 2 miles, turn left on Formosa Gardens Blvd and it will take you right to 192.

I think you will be very happy with this location...

If other questions do not hesitate to ask...

We stayed at a rental home in Lindfields the last time we visited Orlando. I would say it is about 10 minutes away from Disney's main entrance. I would stay in that neighborhood again :).

Lindfields is in a good location, close to restaurants/supermarkets/Disney and the I4.
Personally I prefer Indian Creek and Windsor Palms as they are newer developments.

Lindfields is a nice neighborhood. The homes are a bit older than Indian Creek or Windsor Palms, but still have some very nice homes in there!
Its very easy to get to and easy to get to shopping etc...

Another :thumbsup2 for Lindfields.

Lovely, real "neighbourhood" feel. And like Ted said, any questions about home rentals, ask away:)

I live in Lindfields. It's pretty nice and quiet here with about 50% permanent residents and 50% rental homes.
It takes us about 7 minutes to get to AK or MGM, about 10 minutes to get to Epcot, and 12 to the MK parking gate if we hit mostly green lights on 192. There are 2 Publix's within a 3 minute drive (one in each direction on 192), Wal-Mart on 27 just north of 192 about a 5 minute drive, and lots of restaurants and fast food places nearby.

I actually live right across from Lindfields. We get sandhill cranes at our ponds, and have had quite a few incidents with our Lindfields "neighbors" screaming & cursing at the cranes who, admittedly, do have a loud, rattling call. But still!

The location is good, as far as off-property house rentals go. It should take 10-15 minutes to get to WDW. As someone else said, just get on 192 & go to World Drive. That's usually faster than taking Black Lake or Sherberth, UNLESS it's a Saturday when all the tourists are out on 192, doing the 25 mph stop & go routine as they look from one buffet restaurant to another. In that case, it would pay to avoid 192, even though the Sherberth route is slightly longer & a lot more winding.

If you need groceries, Lindfields is right by 2 Publixs: one at Orange Lake and the other at Summer Bay. There is also a Wal-Mart Supercenter about 10 minutes away on 27.

The neighborhood is fine & feels safe. Aside from the screaming, we haven't had a problem with Lindfields.

Cheers!

When I frist moved to Orlando I stayed at Lindfields for 2 months. It is very nice, I remember they had a couple of pools and a game room. I stayed in a 4 bedroom and it was very roomy.

That`s all good news about this area folks.

As a newbie at this, it was a little scary renting something sight unseen but the Lindfields home we rented looks very nice and the owners have been great.

During our search, I was a little concerned about Indian Creek as I believe the new Western Beltway runs right through the middle), and right beside OIC.

I`ll take an slightly older, well maintained property in a nice area (to say nothing of close to WDW) any day. :)

Good luck in your search MMKC2222.

We just stayed at Lindfields Reserve for 3 nights and the place was beautiful. # very roomy bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a very spacious living room, an open kitchen with attached sitting area and dining area, and the most beautiful walled in pool and hot tub surrounded by a spacious, well maimtained deck. There was access to the pool from every bedroom and a garage/ gameroom with a washer/ dryer. The pictures online didn't do it justice because it was much nicer when we got there than we had expected. Also Lindfield Reseve only has about 17 houses and is gated in as well. We would dstay there again anytime. The detractions we found were the need to update the tv's to flats and maybe a spa tub in the master. We found it on 1st for Orlando website and we were able to book it online. The owners were very pleasant to deal with.

I love Lindfiels, rented there 4 times. It's jujst minutes from AKL and rt.192 is a hop skip and a jump.
