I had posted this on the transportation board but did not get any replies so I thought I would try my fellow Dis Cruisers.

I have arranged for Limo service from MCO to the Port and back for our upcoming cruise. I am wondering what would be an appropriate tip for such service. They meet us in the baggage claim are and take our bags from there to the Limo and drive us to the Port. The cost is $290 round trip (if this matters I do not know).

There was a spot that I could have checked when I did the on line reservation but I did not feel right about doing that. What if the service was bad etc - or the opposite what if they made my DD's trip by offering such a great ride.

So if anyone has used this type of service or knows what an approriate tip would be I would appreciate your input.

You should tip as you would for any other service....I belive 20% is the norm...but hey I could be wrong...It's not every day I take a limo. But you should also make sure the tips was not included...I know from checking around most (not all) of the transportation companies for limo service automaticaly add a 20% tip. Also keep in mind you'll be tipping twice for round trip...once for the way there and once for the way back...so it would be 20% of the total split between both ways....not 20% of the total both times. Also remember depending on the ride itself...you can always tip above if you fill the service was exceptional.

I know tipping is always a very touchy subject..but I tend to tip on service recieved....not on what is expected. If I get lousy service there is no way I'm going to tip the recomended amount. Same goes if the service is above what is expected then the tip will be also.

Who did you book with? Many services include the tip in the price you quoted... I know that the service I used last year did. Happy Limo and Tiffanycars both are excellect and have coupons on the web, too!

I have booked with Southern Elegance Limo. They do not have the tip added in to the rate. Our price for the white stretch Limo that seats 10 (there are 6 of us and a Minnie Ride along) from MCO to the Port is $290. So 20% would be about $30 each way. I should become a limo driver LOL! It is about a 1 hour drive they told me. So not bad tip money!

This is a once in a life time thing so I am going all out. My 4 kids are just going to die when we get to baggage claim and a limo driving is waiting for us with a sign!

This also allows DH to have a real vacation - no driving, no traffic concerns, no directions to follow. It is just sit back and relax!

Not only do they meet you at the baggage area....but they also help with all your baggage. Like I mentioned above....we used Southern Elegnace...and they were wonderful. The length of the ride is just right....long enough to enjoy the limo some...but not to long.

Good to hear scrapperjill, I am looking so forward to surprising my kids with this. I am sure the ride to the Port will be a little more exciting than the ride back because of the shock value! But I bet we all enjoy the whole experience. Especially DH and I - for once we do not have to lug 6 peoples luggage and try and get 4 kids through a swarm of people all by ourselves. This could be the start of a very expensive habit!
