Has anyone used a limo/car service from the Tampa airport? Fares to Tampa are lots better than to MCO. There will be 7 in our group.

I haven't ever seen a car service running from Orlando over to Tampa. I would imagine that it would be cost prohibitive. It is about $200 r/t from Sanford to WDW...and that's just under an hours drive. It's more like 80 mins between Tampa and WDW!!! Not to mention that you would need a large van!
You need to weigh the costs associated with flying into Tampa vs the costs for MCO. Addtl transportation costs are always something to be considered when choosing an airport to arrive into.
Lots of people have found very cheap flights that arrive at Sanford, but are then frustrated when they find how much it will cost to get to WDW!!! So, you need to figure that into your budget.
You are either going to have to rent a large van, or two cars, if flying into Tampa...and that is going to add a lot to your costs.

I would guess rates would be similar--or even a little higher than--rates from WDW resorts to Port Canaveral, which would be $300-$350+ not including tip for a 10-passenger van.

This was on TPA website: http://www.tampaairport.com/ground_transportation/index.asp#

I'd vote for renting a Tahoe or minivan for a day each way. If you are a member of a rental car club, price a larger vehicle. Tahoes hold 7 passengers and I got a rate for about 89.00 - keep it for one day and drop off at Disney Car Care. Minivans were even less. Hunt around, check Priceline or Hotwire. Keeping it for a day will give you the option of stopping at the store for anything you might want for your trip. Disney Car Care will drop you back off at your resort. Something to consider.

We fly into TPA and will probably be our go to airport henceforward. $300 cheaper than MCO for us. We could fly into Sanford, wasn't that much cheaper and our departure airport is 2 hours away. Flying into TPA the airport is 30 minutes away and we made it to Disney from TPA in about 65-70 minutes on a weekend day. However, I will say, the flights that we have just went up unbelievably, so I'm glad I booked. They are about $200/pp higher than last week...Geesh!

A poster offered a service with a good rate, at least 6 months ago. I think it was one of the services that operated out of Tampa. I didn't save the link. If I get a chance I'll try to find it.

I don't know anything about this company. The one way rate for a sedan 3 or 4 passengers with a moderate amount of luggage is $138. They have larger vehicles. You have to call them for rates.

Renting a vehicle, or even 2, one way one day will probably be cheaper then using a car service. Not everyone drives. Not everyone can rent a car. Not everyone wants to drive on vacation.
