Limited Time Magic every week :)

I think the idea of surprise magic is cool! We received a round of caramel corn at Sci-Fi during the Year of a Million Dreams. Caramel corn is not a big deal but it was cool to get a little bit of surprise magic!

I have to say that the first week doesn't really excite me much. I like listening to the dance party music they have going on in Tomorrowland but I don't take the time to join in the dancing there - this seems like just a bit of an extension of that. However, maybe the hourly countdown is really cool. Would love to hear back from anyone that has experienced it!

I would like to know at least a few days in advance. We will be there Jan 21-26, and I just want to know what to look for. I don't want to chance missing it, by not being in the right place at the right time!
:cool1: :hyper:

I kinda like it. My trips to WDW are based upon my own availability and are booked well in advance, so there would really never be a situation where I would be building a trip around a particular event or promotion anyway. To the extent that anything "special" is going on while I'm there, it's happenstance, so it's sort of nice to know that in fact, something special WILL be going on while I'm there. Even if it sucks, I'm still basically in a state of nature, because I didn't plan my trip around it to begin with.

I'm planning a trip or two within 2013.

Does this info make me more or less excited about when I go?

Less, or at least neutral.

If I don't know in advance what the "Magic" is going to be, how can I plan my trip(s) to see it?

For all I know, the "Magic" that is coming during my trip will be a
"Photo Retrospective of South American Tour Groups at DTD."

Kewl! ;)

Based on the blurb from the Disney Insider, I wouldn't plan a trip for one of these "magical surprises."

Chalk Artists????? You must be kidding?!!?!?!? Boss-- I quit, I must go to WDW to see the chalk artists!!! :hyper:

Hahaha...another good one! :rotfl2:

I just want to know what to look for when I am there!

Here now and spent 5 hours at MK dancing with the "blinging in the new year party". My teen kids loved it and wanna go back again this week before it ends. Had a blast. Never seen so many adults jumping and dancing as tonight.

I don't mean to be so cynical. It's a pretty cool thing actually, but it is WAY overhyped.

The little surprises at WDW are very special. I'm thinking of the street entertainers. Nobody goes to WDW for them, but they are fun to "stumble upon" and add something special to a day at the parks. It's cool because it's something unexpected, something you didn't plan for.

When you promote the livin' beejeebus out of something as a surprise, guess what? IT'S NO LONGER A SURPRISE. Oh, I get that I don't know exactly what my "limited time" magic event will be. I'll hope for the hologram of Walt drawing Mickey Mouse, but when the chalk artists come out, it's gonna be a bit of a let down. BTW, Chimney Sweep Bert advises that chalk art is very limited time magic when it rains. ;)

It remains to be seen how this is received over the year, but this posters note about how much fun her family had just reinforces the idea that something new, something different is appealing to many people. I am sure this will be a great family memory for them.

I am looking forward to seeing what they offer the weeks we are there this year. In October, I'm hoping for something related to Maleficent.....
