I used to but it's full of viruses now.

The good P2Ps are few and far between now since the music industry cracked down.

I suggest just buying the songs off of iTunes or doing the Yahoo music service.

Limewire is the worst! It has destroyed one computer on me to where it wasn't even worth getting it fixed. Then my darling teens downloaded it again on the computer I have now. That crashed from it. My friend is a computer repair tech & fixed it for free. My DS did it again, crashed again.. & now the (can't use the name here that I would love to call him) ... did it again! I just found it on the computer yesterday!!!! It will be a matter of time before the virus sets in & takes over again. Do not use Limewire!!!!

Wal-mart has 88 cent downloads. Thats practically free!! And her friend advised buying a 1 month Napster card at Target then you can done load all that Napster owns for about $20.00.

Oh thank you so much. I was at Best Buy last night and I had two Itune cards in my hand to purchase. The sales guy told me to not buy those to use Limewire. I knew I could count on you all here to tell me the dirt on this website. THANKS!!!

I was gonna post yesterday to say 'stay away from limeware' - the p2p thing is such a mess between RIAA going after people, spyware, adware, and other malware (viruses, worms etc). It's not worth it.

But I did want to let you know that you don't have to buy the giftcards -- you can just signup for itunes and pay 99 cents per song. (and they give away 2-3 songs/week for free) with the giftcards, someone somewhere is making a 15 cent minus the cost of making the card profit... not that it's a big deal, but multiply that buy the millions of little plastic giftcards sold anyway, my point is that you don't have to have them to get itunes- you can even give an itunes gift through the itunes store/software.

I'm guessing you got an ipod? Don't forget your own cd collection (you already know you like the stuff!)

Definitely stay away from Limewire. Nearly every song that you can download from it is pirated. So downloading them would be theft and would put you at risk of being sued by the RIAA (although the odds are very miniscule). Also, as the others have mentioned your chances of getting viruses from files downloaded on Limewire is rather high.

You are much better off buying CDs or using one of the legal download sites such as iTunes. Whichever site you choose you should be careful to understand what you are getting. Some sites, such as Napster, offer unlimited downloads for a certain price. What they don't make clear is that you have to pay each month in order to keep listening to the songs that you download. As soon as you stop paying the monthly fee, the songs no longer work. There are also restrictions on what you can do with those songs. Even while paying the monthly fee, you won't be able to write any of those songs to a CD or transfer them to many mp3 players including iPods.

We have always used WinMX but it has been a LONG time since I have used it and DH has Itunes on his laptop.

I got a free MP3 player for connecting to bellsouth fast access DSL and also 3 months free of Napster...SOOOOOOO I cannot get the MP3 player to work on my computer somthing about a high speed USB cord???? NOT real sure what that means, and then so I thought well I will just download a few songs a burn a CD for my CD player..well I go to do that after 2 hours of downloading and it tells me in order to burn the CD I must first pay 18.81 for the songs..WHAT!!!!! I thought I had a 3 month free membership!!!

SO MUCH FOR FREE..daddy always said nothing is ever free!!!! I guess now I believe him...

Most of the memberships let you download songs to your computer but you must still pay for the song to burn it to a CD or transfer it to a MP3 Player.

I had a membership from Adelphia for their music service and I could d/l the songs but couldn't do anything with them until I purchased them for 99¢ each.

I have to take my kids computer in to Best Buy to have all the viruses removed because it's LOADED with them right now because she downloaded it, then after she got whatever songs she was looking for she deleted from the computer, but I found it still on there deep in the registry. The computer is so messed up now, she ruined my laptop too, so I ended up just giving it to her and she paid to get it fixed. Use Itunes or MSN much safer.
