Ok everyone, I am fairly new to the DIS Boards. But I have found so much great info here. I keep reading about Lime Green Mickey's from Home Depot. My question is, what do you all do with the green Mickey paint chips after you get them. Do you laminate them or what? We check in on 7/1 and I would love know about this. Do you use them to identify other DIS members?? IF would be great to meet fellow members while we are there.

You can pin them to clothing or to a Disney pin lanyard, you can attach them to strollers or handbags.

You will need to cut the backing card along the outline of the paint chip, the chip does not peel off. Do this before leaving home, you may not carry scissors on board airplanes.

I just got some lime green Mickey heads. I'm going to laminate mine and then attach them to our backpack and lanyards. Wer'e going in July too - the 15-23. Have a great trip! :flower:

I took mine and cut them off the backing then glued them back to back and took a labelmaker and typed my name and phone number and stuck the labels on each side then laminated them, punched a hole in them and used a small cable tie to put them on luggage, carry on's, camera, backpack, etc.

Has the green Mickey heads ever helped anyone meet other DIS members. Has anyone ever noticed another DIS member with these at WDW

I just slapped my Alien Green paint chips in a laminating luggage tag. I didn't cut the background off. Darn. Oh well. Now when you see me you will know it's me and you can point and laugh and say "Look at that loser Honeibee's Mickey tag with the backing still on it!" :confused3

I've had mine attached to my camera bag on the last 2 trips and have yet to have anyone approach me about it. I'll have it again on our next trip in November, so if you see me, stop me and say hi.

I very carefully cut along the edge of the Mickey head to cut off the EXCESS
backing. I don't want to peel off all the backing because the extra backing makes them stronger. Then I glue them back to back so that there is lime green on both sides. I take a hole puncher and punch a nice, neat hole between the ears. Then I put my lime green ribbon on them. I have them dangling from the zippers of my fanny pack, and one is dangling from my GOH badge, which had my first name on it.

Yes, I have met other DIS'ers in the parks this way. I vacation solo, so it was wonderful to stop to chat with a few other DIS'ers. The first 3 annual
vacations, though, I never did meet any DIS people, and I always wore my lime green ribbons. It was not until I added the Mickey heads that anyone noticed.

So I just got back from Home Depot with my Mickey Heads. So, which color do more people use? I got Alien Green and Sonic Boom. Alien Green is more Limey in color but the Sonic Boom is brighter but maybe to plain green. There were only 2 Aliens left but lots of Sonic so I'm guessing Alien is the way to go??
We bought lime green bandanas from walmart and we were spotted by Agnes! in Epcot in April.
I also made a Mickey head on the computer for our hotel window.

Ok, maybe I am a loser for not cutting the backing off of mine. But Im thinking it has more to do with just being lazy. But I put mine in just how I got them from home depot in my pass holder that hangs from my lanyarnd. It sits right in the middle of my chest with the alien green mickey ears showing to everyone. No one has approached me yet, but im sure one day it will happen.

Just went out today to Home Depot and picked up a bunch of "alien green" Mickey paint samples.I plan on cutting them and then laminating them back to back (I'm not sure if I'll put my Disboard name on them or not). I'm putting them on our luggage, our hotel room window(?) and we'll be wearing them in the the parks! Hope to meet fellow Diser's in about 30 days @ WDW!!! :bounce:

There has also been a thread to put one in your room window while you are in so other Dis's can stop and say Hello. When you want privacy take it out of your window.

I got 'em, I got 'em, I got 'em :woohoo: !!!!!
DH needed some stuuf for the weed wacker (the wire that feeds out of it.. lol.... I don't remember the name of the stuff but you get the picture) Much to his surprise I happily said I would go get it. While I was there getting it I happened over to the paint department and collected my Mickey heads!!! i got both "Sonic Boom" and "Alien Green" but from reading this I realized the "Alien Green" is the way to go.... I also got somw great ideas from you all!!! Thanks soooo much. We are set to be there 9/22 - 9/25... Please say "Hi" if you see me!!!!!:goodvibes

Here is a pic of mine, in case anyone is interested. I promise it looks better in person, and the glue that shows in the pic is definitely not visible in real life. I would love to see anyone else's LGMH's. I am going to put mine in a protective plastic thingy I found (technical term of course) and attach it to my backpack in the parks. Hope to see some of you Disers soon!

Ours are laminated and zip-tied to our back packs.

We also have a blank one that we put in our resort window.

This is the first time I ever heard of using the paints chips like this. As a matter of fact, after I finish my coffee I have to run to Home Depot for one of my "Honey-Do" projects and I am going to get them for my wife (Debbie) and I. We are coming home on the 27th to 30th of september as well as december 8th - 15th. Hope to meet some of you great people!.

I went to our local area educations agency and laminated mine so cheap. They have these presses that cut out shapes so I cut out pumpkins then put the lgm's on top. Cute
