Lime green mickey heads?

The DIS has been around for quite some time, as you guys know, and I think around 2000 or so there had been several meets by then, and people wanted to know when other DISers were in the parks, so on the Community Board one day someone suggested choosing a color to identify other DISERs. Remember how popular yellow ribbons were? and then other colors were popular, like pink for breast cancer, red for AIDS, etc., so the idea came up about having ribbons in a certain color. A poll was put up, and the color that won was lime-green.

So, people started wearing lime-green ribbons, tieing them to their backpacks, etc. I used to put them in my hair. Back in 2001 we had our first Disneyland Meet, and it was a nice size. Tink33 made strings with beads on them with our names and lime-green beads. I still have and wear mine when I go to DL. :)

Well, then, someone discovered that Home Depot had "lime-green" Mickey Heads (LGMH), and DISers have pretty much chosen those to display and show their DISiness. :teeth:

What a great story time! I loved it. Can you read it again ? :rotfl:

I posted this on its own thread, but for some reason it got moved and completely disappeared, so I'll just add it here.

I went and got several LGMHs plus assorted other colors my kids would love. One of my 5-year-old twins, delighted with her yellow and orange MHs, looked at my LGMHs and said, "Mommy, could I have one of your slime green Mickeys?" :rotfl:

Here sister is very happy with "pinkety-purple Mickey."

For anyone who can't find the LGMHs, I just saw some cut outs on ebay that would probably work just fine.

I understand how you feel - I'm from KS and was asked if we had electricity? I thought the guy was joking - but he really thought in rural parts there was none available. :confused3 Like I could get my DIS fix on without electricity! :rotfl2:

I'm originally from South Dakota and I get the same stupid questions. I used to tell people we didn't have electricity growing up, so we had to watch tv by candlelight.;) :lmao:

Sometimes, they'd get it...

Okay, since I can't actually go to DLR yet (still waiting to see when will be the best time for us to get our APs), I've been busy making my LGMH. So here it is front and back:

And I also have to share what my DS3 drew a few weeks ago because i'm a proud mommy. :goodvibes Plus I just think it looks cool. I will admit that I did coach him a little ("draw a big circle here, draw a little circle here, etc) but I didn't actually help him draw it. He's going through a circle phase right now so i thought i would take advantage of that.

LP, I love what you did with the back of your LGMH!!!! How cute! And your 3-yr-old's drawing is precious. Good to start them early!:thumbsup2

Love it! :thumbsup2 You can put it on the stroller when you go to DTD. :) Be sure to save the drawing for his baby book!

Oh, LP, I LOVE your key chain!!!! That is too cute. :yay:

And as to your DS3, well....that is absolutely fabulous. You should frame it and hang it up! :thumbsup2

Did you run your LGMH through your printer to get your name on there so nicely?

LOVE the back.

Laminate the drawing! Have him sign and date it!:)

That's great LavenderPeach!

I, too, am interested in how you got your name on there so nicely.

I picked up more than my share at HD on Thursday and made a little memory-style game for DS2 to play on the plane. Next project is my lgmmh for my bag and then orange tags for our bags.

I have extra lime ones if anyone needs me to send out a few!

Rainy Day--are yours the Alien Green ones? I went to HD tonite and all they had even close was something called "Sonic" something--

so if you have a couple extra of the "right" ones I would appreciate getting two--my Mom and I are going to WDW in November and I'd like to make tags for us!

let me know and I'll PM my address to you!

Cheryl

Glad you guys like my LGMH! :goodvibes Actually, i wasn't able to find any LGMHs at HD but i remembered that someone had posted a link to a website that told all about them and there was a pdf you could print out if you couldn't find any of the "real" ones. So I took the pdf into photoshop and filled one of the heads in with black, selected the bottom half and filled that with red and added 2 yellow ovals. Then i just printed my name on one of the other green heads. I also had to change the color of the green because it was totally the wrong shade of green when i printed it.

I'll try to find the link to that website. It was on the other LGMH thread that was going a few weeks ago.
