Just read about this.... every site I've been on says this train was named after Walt's wife. But his wife's name was Lillian Marie, not Lillian Belle. So where does the Belle come from? Unless it is just meant to be used for its French translation of Belle meaning beautiful to call the train "beautiful Lillian"?

It was named the Lilly Belle because Lillian Disney decorated the inside but it's no longer decorated the way Lillian had it either as she had White Wicker furniture which didn't wear well. I was on it last year will have a trip update about it soon.

When we were on the Lilly Belle a few weeks ago our conducter, Christy, told us when the presidential train car was built they used the white wicker furniture, and Lillian was appalled at the tacky furniture for a presidential car. That was when she decorated it in the current style.

What a fantastic tour...I feel so fortunate to have done it.

Maybe one or other of the conductors got stuff mixed up but we were definately told Lillian Disney put the white wicker stuff in and that it's no longer decorated the way she decorated it because it wasn't practical

It's so funny how the stories differ. I wonder which one is actually true? They really should have the conductors get together and review their stories every so often for continuity sake!

ETA I hope I didn't make it sound like you remembered wrong, or that I was correcting you! I just found it interesting that the stories that they share were different.

i dunno. You would think that they were given training involving the story so maybe one of them was having an off day?! I don't really know much about it other than what we were told that day anyway

is it still possible to ride in the lilly belle? Or 'drive' the boats for that matter?
