Likelihood of park closing early this Saturday?

We are arriving this Saturday.

I'm wondering what the chances are of the parking closing early on Saturday due to capacity. I'd like to get into the park for an hour or two, in the late afternoon/early evening.

If the park does close early, does it reopen at any particular time? How does that work?

When the parks have hit capacity, which is rare. It closes in steps, not just a simple locking of the gates.

They stop ticket sales. Stop letting APH's in. Stop letting guests reenter.

Usually things ease off after the afternoon parade. Then they let previous guests reenter. Then APH's are let back in. Then they can sell tickets to new guests



On NYE which is a unique situation, it gets busier in the evening, and things calm down slightly as the night goes on when kids can't stay up anymore. This is the only day of the year that DL is likely to hit capacity.

I went this weekend in 2009. Only from reading the Disboards did I have any clue they closed the gates. It lasted a VERY short time before the first parade and reopened when a large amount of people headed out for an afternoon break after the parade. We left the park around 1-2pm and were back around 5 pm and completely missed any "closure". I really wouldn't worry about it.

Great to know. We usually stop off in West LA prior to making it to DL, but this trip we're headed straight to DL. If there was a strong chance that the park would be closed, we'd just go to WLA first, then forget about entering the park on Saturday. However, it sounds like it shouldn't be an issue for when we want to enter. Thanks!

Even on peak days from Christmas to New Years it only stays closed for a very short period of time, with the exception of New Years eve.
