Like the Phoenix, out of the ashes arises THE NEWEST WL FAQ! (Part 3)

Hi! I'm new here but I have a question about the WL. We will be traveling to Disney for the first time in May and haven't decided where to stay. The WL looks amazing and I really like the looks of the Deluxe room since my DH and I are traveling with my DD2, niece - 5, and my mom and stepdad. My question is...can you get a Deluxe smoking room? My stepdad smokes and I know he'll throw a fit if we don't get a smoking room. TIA!

jenny0314,

That's a good question. We always have a non-smoking room so I don't really know the answer.

I believe somewhere in this thread it says that smoking rooms are on the 6th floor. I assume there are deluxe rooms located on the 6th floor.

I would ask when you make your reservation. Let us know what they say.:sunny:

Jenny, welcome to the DIS & our WL thread! Lots of great info here, expecially the 1st couple of pages.

All WL rooms have balaconies, and you are allowed to smoke on them. Would your Step Dad mind just stepping outside for his puff? They are covered, so he shouldn't get wet if is happens to rain.

Thanks for the information. :) I didn't think about the balconies to smoke on. If we happen to book with WL and they don't have deluxe smoking rooms then we'll just have to make due and he can smoke on the balconies.

I'm off to read more about WL! That place looks awesome!

Are you sure that smoking is allowed on ALL balconies?

I wouldn't want someone smoking next to us if we were in a non-smoking room. We wouldn't be able to sit out on our balcony.

I'm certain they have smoking deluxe rooms. The CM should be able to tell you when you make your reservation.

Let us know what they say? :D

There is no smoking on the 7th floor and from what I understand, that extends to balconies.

Now, whether or not that will be enforced, I can't say.

From what I understand, no smoking means no smoking even on the balconies no matter what floor just for the reason that floridafam mentioned. I would hate for someone next to me to be smoking when I am in a non smoking room. Like Fred said, though, I don't know how much this is enforced unless someone complains.

Hi everyone!
I am doing the double digit dance and anxiously waiting for a new code so I can book a May trip!

Regarding the 2 WL restaurants - which is the more formal? AP? help!

Artist Point but you can still go casual.

I have to say I'm less than impressed with the Itinerary Planning Office for the MK resorts-that includes WL.

One CM says something and another says something totally different. One CM keeps insisting we do something we really don't want to do even after I said we aren't interested.

I'm trying to create a great vacation and keep running into attitude.

I hope I've just reached them on bad days. :(

It's been a few years since I smoked - but they absolutely allow you to smoke on the balcony. They willa actually bring you ashtrays to put outside.

Now, like I said, I quit smoking about 2 1/2 yrs ago so it may have changed.

On another note, not to toot my own horn but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!! :hyper:

My experiences with pre-planning were great actually but I did it all through email. It was nice to not have to speak on the phone. The other great thing about that was that you typically dealt with only one of 3 people instead of a bunch answering phones.

Don't be surprised though, the people who answer email for pre-planning at WL do both WL and the Poly. You may get a few Alohas and Mahalos. (Hello/Goodbye and Thank you I think!)

Lastly, I am a big fan of calling the concierge floor a week or so before arrival to confirm everything in case it wasn't realyed properly.

Hope this helps!

Majestic,

Thanks for the "pickmeup". I think I will correspond via e-mail from now on.

The one thing that didn't make any sense was trying to book the Grand 1 for a Wishes cruise. 2 weeks ago Ida told me it was availale for booking. Today, another CM said I had to wait until the 90 day mark unless it was a very special occasion.
Maybe the occasions we are celebrating aren't "special" enough.

It just seems like they aren't real sure of themselves when I ask about scheduling things. I'm not trying to reserve the MK for an evening-just do some special things-things that wouldn't be a problem for most other hotel concierge levels.

Anywho, I'll give it another try.

I'm going to let the smoking/non-smoking issue go away. They are going to have one very unhappy customer if we go to sit out on our balcony and can't because someone next to us is smoking. I think there is only one balcony next to the YS Suite so I'm hoping that increases our chances of not running into this problem. :hyper:
