Could you tell me alittle about what kind of food it is? Is it good? Do they have a kids menu besides what they list on the menus online? My 2 year old won't eat stuff like that!
Thanks!

ps...thanks for all your great help! I love reading about all your trips and tips!

Yummy!!!

We dined there in October and loved it! A carnivore's heaven with all the meat they keep bringing to your table- Grilled Shrimp, Seasoned Beef and Chicken and Barbecued Pork Loin. There are at least three different dipping sauces to accompany the meat. Your 'cousin' (waiter) will help you know which one is best with what.

There is also a lazy susan on the table with Stir Fried Veggies, Rice, Salad and Shrimp/Veggie Wontons. I remember the veggies being green beans with onions. All of these were excellent.

The food is nicely seasoned but not spicy hot- sort of like Asian flavors but different and much better (IMHO).

There is a choice of desserts but being a coconut fiend- I had to try the Coconut Ball- coconut ice cream rolled in toasted coconut. Yummy!! The also bring fresh pinapple and caramel sauce for dipping it in for the table- WOW!! Another great combo.

Portions are huge and it is 'family style' so you can just keep eating, and eating and eating.

Regarding your 2 year old- I remeber seeing posts on the restaruant board that you can request a true 'kid's' meal- like mac/cheese or chicken nuggets- for kid's who will not be eating the traditional meal.

It is a very fun place!

OK, now I'm really hungry! ;)

Just wanted to say Good Morning.

Got to get ready for church. Can't wait to come home and read DisneyDmbNut's trip reports. ::yes::

We never tried Ohana's but you guys are making me want to. Do you feel stuffed afterwards? :D

Ladies and Gentlemen....The Wilderness Lodge FAQ is proud to announce that NEW PHOTOS have been added to Majestic's Wilderness Lodge Photo Gallery!!

Just added a christmas pics gallery! These are nice!

Just added a room pics gallery to show pictures of what the rooms look like! Gotta make sure that people who haven't gone yet get a view of what they look like!

Just added 4 to 5 new balcony pictures!! Thanks for sending them over everyone! My goal is to get as many as possible. This will allow people to see what the diffrerent views are like from different locations in the hotel.

Do YOU have Christmas, Room, or balcony view pictures you want to send over??? Send them to wdwwl@majesticnetworks.net. Please try not to send duplicates of pictures that are already in the gallery and if possible, try to send pictures that are web optimized for 640x480. If you can't do that, send them over but take note not to send too many at one time.

Link to the gallery is in my signature.

hi-just wanted to thank you all for the insight i had about the WL.
we just returned from a week there & we loved it. all the info i've gathered from these boards were a great help.
we were in 5166 with concierge access.
i dont think the concierge was worth it beacuse we were only on the hotel for the continental bfast & the dessert. i dont think we fully took advantage of it.
the only problem with the room was the distance-from everything.
we got used to though, and the view we had was worth it.
we could see bay lake and the pools. also the geyser & the parade right outside our room every night.
i did laundry around 8 pm one night with no waiting.
didnt like the family restaurant-very loud & obnoxious, food not too good.
we used the silver plan & used the wishes to the best we could.
best wish bargain was rainforest cafe @ AK. my husband & i had shrimp cocktail, i had lobster he had surf & turf, and dessert-for 1 wish each. the bill was $142.00 and the waitress gave us cups to take home since we didnt order the smoothies as a beverage.
i thought the wishes were great. i've never eaten so much shrimp lobster & beef.
we paid no more that about $12.00 for our almost 3 year old to eat-at buffetts he was free.
sorry this is so long-just wanted to share.

Welcome back vickame,

What type of room were you in? :D

Did you book concierge or were you offered it at check in?

I'd love to hear more about where you ate.

Glad you had a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing.
:D

I've said it before and will say it again. :) Concierge is not just for the food! (There! Now that I have that off my chest....)

They are very helpful people on the 7th floor. It's great when you actually let them make reservations for you and use thier expertise to squeeze you in where you may not have been able to go without some "help". They are also very knowledgeable about the world and answer any questions you may have.

So, in a nut shell, if you like to take advantage of being pampered, concierge is for you. If you're just in it for the food, I would skip it. For the money I save on breakfast and the beer and wine at night, it's more than worth it alone.

Glad you had a good time though! Please do share with us if you were booked concierge or if it was offered as an upgrade. If it was an upgrade, how much more was it? I am going to guess about $55 a night.

Fred

Fred..what was the thing from WCC that you couldn't wait to eat??

I LOVE the WCC!!! My mom thought the hysterics was great..even when our waitress threw straws at us on Friday AM!!
I had the all you can eat on Tuesday and it was really good!! Jorge was the best!!!

Fred...what are your trip dates? We are planning on May and would love to hook up!

The BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich! They smoke the pork right in the WL's own smokehouse ya know! YUM!

As for dates, we are not firm on them as of yet but it looks as though first choice is currently 8th to the 16th and second is 15th to the 23rd. I should have some dates firmed down within a week or so.

Either way, we will be booking concierge. :) Our goal is to stay in just about every room on the concierge floor. ::yes:: Heheheh!

Mmm..WCC pulled pork!! I love it...I don't get the sandwich because I am trying to be low carb ( lol, except at California Grill ).
I kept trying to remember what your ceremonial food was...

DH is going to the station tomorrow and is going to look up his schedule...My AP pass expires on May 5th, so I will have to hurry and renew! I think we can make it work...I hope to get Room 5079 this time!!

Okay folks, I am going to be calling to make our reservations withing the next few days, and I am still confused about which wing is North and which is South.

We want to book a woods view room and request a bunkbed room.
Do I want to ask for North or South?
Which faces the Villas? Which has partial views of MK castle sometimes available?

:chat:

The North wing has rooms that face MK and rooms that face the inner courtyard.

The South wing has rooms that face the villas and rooms that face the courtyard.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.:D

Couldn't have said it better myself. :) ::yes::

hi again-
here's the scoop you've asked for-
first-i KNOW the concierge isnt just food. i want trying to disparage the service-just sharing my personal experience.
they did help with reservations for PS's. my problem though was, the strict food schedule. at 8 PM if I wanted wine & crackers, the only option really was a cobbler and some cordials. it wasnt a big deal. the staff was more than helpful.
we paid $55 a night for the service and for PS's for our meals and the occaisional juice box, i didnt think it was fully worth it. reservations and friendly service are things any staff at a better hotel would provide with a regular room price. the parks were empty & PS's were easy to get. personally, i think we could have done the PS's on our own without a problem. having stayed concierge level quite a few places, the food is a big deal-sorry to offend those who feel otherwise. i do agree that if you have a few drinks per night, it is a great deal due to the drink prices normally. we were there for the superbowl and saw many people taking advantage of the beverage service.
to answer the other questions-
i booked a concierge room. i changed to a deluxe room.junior suite due to the fact the rooms are small. i'm glad we did because the rooms are tiny. staying 7 nights with a toddler in one of the regular rooms would have been difficult. since i had a concierge room booked prior to my change, they offered concierge access to be paid upon check-in.
since it was value season, the price wasnt too bad. we didnt get any discounts or free upgrades. cost really wasnt an object this trip so we just booked what we wanted. i feel the silver package was well worth it. our favorite restaurant was norcoosee's at the GF. it was very refined but we were made to feel more than comfortable with our toddler. the rainforest was the best deal. my son loved the hoop de doo review. we ate lunch at le cellier in canada at epcot & were pleasantly surprised. it was very good.
artist point at the WL was very good as well.
we didnt like the whispering canyon. dinner at the liberty tree in MK was awful. we werent too fond of boma either.
the room-expect for the distance from everything, was great. the extra walk was worth the view. my son fell asleep every night after watching the parade from the balcony. we could also see how crowded the boats we coming & going.
all in all, we had a great time. there are things i will do different next time, hey-live & learn.
