Like Daddy, Like Daughter

Well the season is over and Savvy lost some confidence after she was sent to the higher level of her class due to her speeds, and she could no longer have ear buds with her dad coaching her. Still she finished 9th in the Pro Jr late models.
No Ear buds?!? I guess if they are trying to focus on driver skill, on track awareness and "race craft".

Shoot, we had on board telemetry, radios, spotters and someone calling intervals/gaps/lap times in our ears.

The lack of confidence is expected. She'll learn that she "fits" there and gain it back. Being fastest in class gets boring. Having to fight for every position develops skill. Hopefully she is receptive to "debriefs" after each race. That will become more valuable than having dad in her ear coaching every lap.

Word on the street is they took them away from the kids because some parents complained that other parents are telling their kids to block everyone and the way it was happening caused accidents which with these little cars was getting dangerous. Hey we're proud that she was averaging about 60 mph around the 1/3 mile track in her first year and finished in the top 10 at only 9 years old.

Bring on next year and she'll surely improve even more. And yes, Daddy shows her on the white board where to improve from the last lap and he's super calm while he explains everything.

The sanctioning body should address that. A black flag and DQ would be a start. The more experienced kids will figure that out own their own, but if the parents are encouraging it over the radio, that should definitely be addressed. I guess the easiest way is to take away the radios.
