The Wilderness Lodge (WL) was another story… the lobby was - dare I say it?! – quiet! Ish. There was no line for check-ins and only a few folks hanging around in chairs or on sofas.

I can't wait until Monday!

V~ You of ALL people deserve a few great rooms on your year of a million trips. I'm going with THAT wasn't a bed beg...but just because I am planning a visit there in a few months. I think I am going to bookmark a picture on my phone of one...just incase I see something suspicious. I love that they gave you a credit and made it right!

It’s a Baby Bison. Not to be confused with a Daddy Bison, which has bigger “horns.”
Leo’s majorly into bison these days, so the WL was a perfect place for him.

OOH I'll have to talk to him about the yummo bison chili I ate at Yellowstone last year, or maybe not.

Much to my surprise, the housekeeping manager showed up within five minutes, with a housekeeper, and the two of them changed all the sheets and vacuumed the carpet.

Great room mojo without Char??

Well... see... I'm not sure what to think about this one. In the end, yeah - we got a great room! But only after encountering bugs, crumbs, and pubic hair. I'm not convinced I had great room mojo so much as the potential to FREAK OUT over yet another bad room!

So the Focker curse only happens when you're at BWV??

I had it happen at AKV in December.....

Noope - this WL room was pretty darned far down the hall, too!

And after working in the Service Industry for 17 years, we appreciated people who voiced concern w/o throwing a fit....

Oh lord yes! I did my time in retail, restaurants and banking and I swear it was like an instant wall went up if a customer started in with yelling.

Great update! And what great room mojo. Char must be rubbing off on you!

Yep, my mistake was letting her tell ME when she'd be home and ready to leave.

Really? I never thought of looking for bed bugs.... but now you've got me thinking....

Look. Please. They're becoming a bigger problem down here. It's easy - DON'T bring your bags in or place anything on the floor before inspecting. Pull back the covers and sheets, looking for any rusty spots. Inspect the edges of the mattress, particularly around the headboard. Look for spotting and/or live bugs. Also check drawers. Google for loads of images to help.

Great update, V! And seeing your pics makes me just homesick for the WL. We stayed there last year and LOVED it! I'm really hoping to reschudle our trip for Feb '09 and even if I have to cut a few days off it would so be worth it to stay at the WL. I LOVE it there!

Ahhhh...the motha's usually off by about an hour.

I wound up with the very same CM who’d checked me in. And I leaned over the counter to whisper, “We need another room please. I did my customary bed bug check and may have found one.” I also mentioned that I hated to cause any inconvenience, but living in Florida, where once bugs are installed, it’s nearly impossible to get them OUT of your home, I just could not take that chance.

MY OCD IS SCREAMING! GET OUT GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!

I didn’t really say that. What I did say was this: “Listen, as I said before, I’m no expert, and it may well be something else, but I’m not interested in being the Bite Test Dummy, if you catch my drift. I would like another room and I’ll leave it to you all to examine the bug and decide whether it poses any threat or not. To another guest. But we can’t sleep in there at this point.”

Good girl!

Except.

For a whole bunch of crumbs in the blanket. And some hairs of dubious nature. Between the sheets.

I completely understand; I've felt the same way ever since my first stay there in 1994 or 1995.
