Next trip only traveling with carry on.

Can the lightsaber can be carry on the plane.

Really do not want to loss $200 to TSA

I would look at the TSA website. It is allowed and there is a great joke from a very unfunny organization.
I can’t post link but google is your best friend.

And search for light saber

try TSA what can I bring in google. There are also a few other Easter eggs on what you can bring

Here is an image from the TSA site. Appears they have a sense of humor about it ........LOL....!!!!

I have experience flying out of LAX after visiting Disneyland. I flew Southwest and the lightsaber counted as one of my carry on items. I paid for early bird checkin (basically priority boarding if you’re not familiar with SW) so I was able to get on the plane in an earlier group and put my saber in an empty overheard bin before everyone else put their luggage in. You could probably wait until everyone’s luggage was in and try to fit it on top if you wanted. I asked on both planes and they didn’t have a coat closet so it had to go into the overhead bins for me. I had no issues going through security either (TSA precheck line) but YMMV.

Before my flight I googled a lot to see what others experiences were. I still double checked at the check in counters before going through security just in case I did need to end up checking it but they confirmed I was good. Have fun!

Is there the option to ship the light saber home from Hollywood Studios / Disney Resort?

The lightsaber is a carry on item. I made one (it was awesome) a few weeks ago and flew home on Spirit (slightly less awesome). There was no problem with TSA or security at all. It counts as a carry on item, though, as it has to be stowed in the overhead bin. On Spirit carry on items are extra so I just paid for that ahead of time. Orlando TSA had no problem dealing with it. I wonder what would happen if I wanted to fly BACK to Orlando with it... if one of my kids wanted to wear it into the park or something... I'm not sure how my home airport would handle that...
