lightroom 1.3

it looks to me like this is just an update with some cameras added...i can get lightroom1 for $94, not sure how much for 1.3 . is there anything else new with the 1.3?

1.3 is a free upgrade for those with 1.0.

the thing is my daughter is buying it for me via her school and it 's not upgradeable...although i wonder if it's updateable..or if they figure you need to spend more than $94 for it to be up to date

I bought 1.0 through campustech.com for the same price about a day before 1.1 (or was it 1.2?) was released. I was able to download the updated version immediately after installing it. Seems like you ought to be able to do the same.

I know that you can't upgrade the educational versions, but I don't think that these count as upgrades. I think these releases are more in the nature of patches (although they have added features). You probably need to check with Adobe to be certain, though.

Yes, you can download and install the update to version 1.3.1. This is not a legal issue with Adobe. What they won't do is sell you version 2.0 at a rediced rate (although you can still get the next version through campustech at the educational rate as long as you still qualify).
