Lighting of CL

Did I make this up or is there a ceremonial lighting of CL around sunset? In my mind it was like in the movie when they turned on all the neon lights . . . but I've always had a vivid imagination.

I've heard of this as well, so you aren't imagining it! I haven't done it, but it sounds like it happens around sundown. They light the town and then play the song "Sha-boom" like in the movie. I'm going to try to check it out on my upcoming trip! Sounds fun!

Yes, there is a lighting of all the neon in cars land around sunset, just like in the movie,
including the "life is but a dream" music.

They do! I think it is around 5 minutes past sunset (official posted sunset time). It is pretty cool - you really feel like you are in the movie.

Is the exact time included on the park schedule?

No. In fact, we were having fun on Buena Vista Street. Wanted to make sure that we were going to be at Cars Land in time for the lights turning on. We watched a street show. (Still daylight, not yet dusk in our opinion.)

We went around to Cars Land, thinking we were in time. Everything was lit up. - sigh -

Apparently, we missed it. Yes, that's one of the times you are happy to know you can come back another day.

I watched the video link. Someone please tell us it's not THAT crowded all the time now? It looks like it might have been filmed at a special opening, one of the guys had an orange cone - full sized.

Nope.

And in my experience, you can't trust a CM who gives you an exact time.

And it was before the area was "dusky". We just happened to be back 20-30 minutes before the CM that morning had told us it would happen, and almost as soon as we walked into CL, it started. I was so glad to be back early, and SO annoyed at the CM who seemed so knowledgeable that morning!

Looks like it was posted 6/16. Saw Glow Ears which nobody had before 6/14. I'm guessing this was official opening day 6/15.

DD and saw it one night, we fell in love! It was so cute and we stood in the middle of the street and sang and danced while the lights came up. It was great, seriously. We specifically hung out off to the side just so we could see it and honestly, we felt it was earlier than dusk, if we hadn't waited we wouldn't have seen it.

Yesterday we asked a CM what time they would come on & was told around 7:30ish. We arrived back at CL around 6:55 and were in line at one of the cozy cones for a snack when it started. We missed some of it but it was done by 7:15
