Just disembarked the Fantasy that had two stops at LHP. A few thoughts

1. Significant improvement in the fly issue from Monday to Thursday. We were told they are around due to waste from the crab population.

2. Mabrika cabanas are great. The Palo team on the Fantasy runs the food station over there. Cooked to order ribeyes and fish. The day 2 salmon was awesome.

3. Merchandise is pretty and there was a nice selection. However it was madness day 1 and took almost 55 minutes to check out (and that was before the computers went down and the cashiers had to write paper receipts)

4. The walk on the pier took about 15 minutes from the forward of the Fantasy. On the way back we were able to get an Island taxi.

5. Security to get back on the ship took a while because you went through it twice, once by the tram stop and once on the ship. It was odd to do it twice given that the security folks were all Disney cast members and not port officials. The tram stop security searched every bag by hand, including merchandise purchases, which took a while.

6. Sea lice was an issue at Mabrika cove day 1 for us and at least 7 other guests we were in cabanas that day. Did not have the issue on day 2.

Happy to answer any questions, but overall it was a wonderful 2 days on the island.

When you say "island taxi," is that one of the golf carts they have available for guests who need assistance or is it something you can choose to pay extra for?

Given that it’s mostly concierge guests who can get cabanas, and the golf carts are available to concierge guests and its been shown will take you anywhere…the answer to your question is yes and yes 😂 (given you pay for concierge) … haven’t heard anyone mention a fee based system

sad to hear about the sea lice... a new problem has been introduced!

They have been allowing anyone a ride back to the ship and no you don’t have to pay

Well, Castaway Cay actually has two stops, too. One on the island and one on the ship. And, unlike Castaway Cay, Lighthouse Cay is on a shared island and guests aren't trapped in a Disney bubble. You could escape to the rest of the island if you wanted to. So, it makes sense to have security in place before reboarding.

It's likely critical to have a cabana on this island, because there is so little shade anywhere else.
Yeah, sure. Except for all of the shade under the beach umbrellas, in the eating areas, and in the other buildings.

It's like you all forgot how trees work or something.

It is for anyone needing assistance. During the day there is a button to call for an Island taxi on the touch screen in the Cabana and it will take you to the other side of the island. At the end of the day, those island taxis are added to the pool of golf carts available used for anyone needing assistance. It would pick folks up from the cabanas, bring them to the first security stop, and then while waiting for those guests to clear security, it would take other guests down the pier.

One thing to note is that at the end of the day, there can be a bit of a wait to get on the island taxi

Sea lice can be anywhere and will go in and out with the tides. Certainly not something that can be controlled. I did not get bitten by sea lice while swimming there
We also did not get bitten on day 2. It seemed to be concentrated on the Mabrika cove lower numbered cabanas. The hosts and guest services were made aware of it and they are hoping to start stocking sunscreen with sea lice protection in the future.

I am actually surprised that this fact has not gotten more coverage... to me it is a huge con... There's just something so nice about getting off at Castaway Cay and knowing it is a private island where it Is just you and the DCL team...

The past few times we have been to Castaway, including the day on this cruise between our two LHP days, we haven’t had a stop on the island
They don't always have people staffing the check point, but sometimes the do. You have to walk through it to get back to the ship, anyway.

Was the security level higher. The security guard at CC told me they have different levels that determine procedures. It was the lowest level when we were there a year ago.

No, it was level 1. We had an island taxi back from the cabanas on CC so it is possible they just drove around it.
