I made a few shirts today........and a few of them are not what I really wanted. One shirt is a dark brown and the image barely is visible........another the coloring isn't as vibrant and its a baby blue shirt.

I'm just wondering what your rule of thumb is for deciding when to use dark/light transfer paper? I'm assuming normal paper is for light colors and dark transfer paper is used for darker clothes? Am I correct in this thinking? Thanks!:cool1:

I haven't made any yet so I'll reserve an opinion; however, I did read on these boards that 100% cotton makes the transfers more vibrant than 50/50 blend tees. What were you using?

did you pre-wash your shirts with detergent and no fabric softener to remove the sizing?

Unless you are using white tshirts - dark transfers are best. I use dark on all my tshirts - including white.

Think of it like this - with light transfers - all white areas of the design are clear - which means that all white areas of the design will be the shirt color. So if you use a light transfer on a light blue shirt than all white areas will be light blue.

I think that dark transfers tend to be more vibrant in color as well and the transfer is more matte (less shiny). It really is a personal preference for me.

I hope this helped!

Mickey- What an awesome explanation! That was exactly what I needed to know! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this!
