As you can tell (if you read my earlier post about McDonald's) we have been watching a lot of Unwrapped on the Food Network lately. DH wants to know if they have light up ice cubes at Sci Fi- don't know if the info is current, as they stated on the show that they have make your own cupcakes at Chef Mickey's. Thanks!!

Last time we ate at Sci Fi (2002) they did have the light up ice cubes.

They worked for awhile at home too.:sunny:

You can also purchase these yourself. I saw them for sale onboard a Holland America cruise ship last month, and found them on the web at http://www.litecube.com/index2.html. Looks like they're around $2.50 - $3.00 each, a little less by the dozen.

I'm thinking of ordering some to use for parties. :)

Yes, they do indeed still have the light up cubes............I also bought some this past weekend at JC Penney.

We got one lite up cube at Sci-Fi and we bought one at Le Cellier. One of them has a little button on the bottom and you can turn it off and on. If you push it once it blinks red, twice blue, three times green four times once red then blue etc. The other cube you have to hit (And I do mean HIT) on the side in order to get it to work.It just is red...alwasy red. I guess to match your hand which is red after smacking the thing. You really have to SMACK the thing. I like the button one but the other is a pain!!! We have had them since December and they both still work. Our DS was 6 months at the time and she loved to just hold it and gaze at it. Now we will be going back in Aug she will be 14 months and I am going to get some more!! Anyone know which cube came from which restaurant? I like the "button" one best but can't remember where we got it Le Cellier or Sci Fi...oh well we will have to eat at both!

They also have them at H&V in MGM. We also go the "Smack" version. It took some serious arm power to get the light to work. The kids LOVED them though and I am sure that we will be getting a few more on this trip.

My sis got the cubes in her alcoholic drinks in January. They were pretty fun to play with (which we did alot) and as far as I know, they are still working.

Just got back and "smack" cubes (have never seen the others) were plentiful. We got them at the Sci Fi, 50s Prime Time and the Concourse Steakhouse (or Outer Rim at the Contemporary).

These sound cool! Do you have to ask for the cubes specifically or do they just come with certain drinks?

You have to order a special drink and if I remember correctly it is a bit expensive but....youre in DISNEY!!!!

I also saw them at Target recently, but it was a clearance price so they may not have them anymore.

I was too cheap to buy the drink at Prime Time, considering my 4yo probably would have taken one drink and then not touched it, but the people next to us left theirs and my sister got it. I did clean it well at home before using it. lol It was the smack kind at Prime Time, but once the waitress...ummm my aunt...showed me the techique it wasn't hard to do.

DD got an orange cube and she was able to choose that from a couple different colors. This was 2 yrs ago and she still has it to this day.

My friend got one last year when we went for Christmas, it was in one of the alcoholic drinks at Sci Fi. It was a nice blue, and you didn't have to whack it hard at all. Maybe she just got a sensitive one? They are soo cool, though, and they add to the indoor sci fi atmosphere!!!!!

DD (7) and DS (10) got theirs at Prime Time in January. When they liked them so much we decided then and there to take them home as souvenirs for their friends - worked really well for both ages and genders. Our waiter kindly added 18 of them to our bill (red, green and blue) and off we went. I don't think that was the cheapest way to purchase them in bulk, but it certainly was the easiest shopping we've ever done for the find-lightweight-inexpensive-small-gifts-for-school-friends thing.

Out of curiousity....

How much are the ice cubes?

Do you pay by the cube?

Can you order a soda with them in it?

Thanks in advance.
We are so excited. We will be eating at SciFi one week from today
:bounce:

you can purchase the light up ice cubes at Target stores here in Indiana, they are usually under $10 for a pack of 4...

I was there in March at Sci-Fi Dine-in and you can get them with an expensive alcoholic drink or non-alcoholic drink in a special cup. They are a bit more expensive than the normal drinks but when you're at Sci-Fi you want to be a part of of it all. Sci-Fi seems to only have the smack kind but I think you can get one in the color of your choice. If you get a non-alcoholic drink, make sure you get light-colored pop or else you won't see the glow cube. Ely
