With all of the safety changes, where do light sabers fall? Specifically, can you bring a light saber into the park, and if you do, can you open that light saber at a meet and greet with the Star Wars characters? My daughter is a huge Kylo Ren fan, we go in 2 weeks, and she will want to bring her Kylo light saber, especially when meeting him. Like to know now so I can avoid packing the thing if it's not going to be allowed.

Thank you for your help, and my apologies if this is addressed somewhere else. I searched, but cannot find it

Lightsabers weren't listed on the "banned toy weapons" list and they are still sold in the parks.

@yulilin3 may have more info regarding the Launch Bay meet and greet policy.

They sell them there and we saw kids walking around with them in December, so I don't think it will be a problem.

the last time I was there a little over a week ago I got hit 3 times buy 2 people having a doul with them outside of space mountain and no I was not hit hard at all just a little annoyed but yes they do allow them in the parks but please be careful of those around you.

Yes, light sabers still appear to be allowed in the parks, and they still sell them. There were a couple of times that I wished the parents would have told a couple of kids to stop swinging them around while they were walking around.

This would strictly be used as a prop for photos. I can't imagine allowing a child to play with one in the parks. Guessing they'd ban them, if not the most popular toy used in the franchise they paid $4 billion and are shutting down 1/2 a park for?

Does WDW still have stormtroopers wandering around?

I think it's weird that the only armed people allowed at Disney(land in particular) anymore are Jedis, Sith, and Stormtroopers. Not a Frontierland cowboy/girl, or an Indiana Jones hero/ine allowed anymore! Just Dark Side people and some Jedis. Sigh.

yes, stormtroopers are still walking around. We saw them twice last Friday

They are allowed in the parks but I haven't really paid attention to Launch Bay meet and greets, I'm sure they are fine in there as well but haven't personally asked

They are allowed in and sold in park, but they are not supposed to be opened in the park. We were told that when we purchased ours. Now, I'm assuming that as a prop during a photo shoot, it would be okay, but walking around the park - no.

I wasn't aware of this but it has to be the most broken rule at WDW right now :)

1. Light sabers are allowed, both to purchase and to return back to the park with.
2. Light sabers are not to be extended per park officials (as courtesy to other guest)
3. It appears that no one cares about #2 as they were open everywhere - the darker it got, the more that were out. We abided by the rules.
4. Lots of people carried them to the Launch Bay meet and greets. Was kind of disappointed that left ours at the resort when we had our meet and greet, but it would have just been another item to carry around the park all day.
5. Blasters are not being sold, but the Stormtroopers are still carrying the replicas (AR pistols like). When I saw that, I thought, "that is an odd policy". I mean you can buy light sabers, buy pointy plastic swords at Pirates, but you can't buy a replica blaster that is being openly and actively carried by the Stormtroopers.

Told us the same. Even taped the top shut when we made them in HS.

I think the blaster/pirate gun ban is totally ridiculous in the first place, but they make way too much money on light sabers to pull them from sale. I don't really mind seeing kids having light saber duels either as long as it's not in a crowd of people (then again, where is that these days?). It's all in good fun!

I agree, add to that list the bubble guns that they sold everywhere. I was at MK and saw the new bubble machines, it's like a little wand, still cute, but the ban on these toys is totally ridiculous especially when you go see the Indiana Jones show...that show has a heavy body count. So we don't sell any of the toys but look, Indy is shooting people left and right...dumb

They stopped selling bubble guns, too? Oh thank goodness. :worship: Now I can stop having to deal with my son freaking out when he gets sprayed with bubbles.

I love bubble guns! Glad there is a new wand. Hopefully they'll bring the toy blasters and guns back soon. As for people complaining about light sabers well........I'm just going to back away slowly and keep my mouth shut so I don't get banned.
